Sounds Like: Like staring into the sun. Or into the void... All hail the drone... One of the most potent and pervasive sounds in the world, in our lives, our bodies, in music, the industrial world and in nature. This is music to swallow you up. Step into the primordial pool, and be enveloped. The Drone Machine plays minimalistic music involving tonality, repeating modes, and long pieces with middles but no endings or beginnings. Trance-inducing drones create hypnotic effects with sustained overtones that eventually destabalize the listener's grasp of space and time similar to the electronic hum of hydro wires or power transformers. Music that is free... of structure... of associative and identifiable elements.. of contemporariness. Time and rhythm are replaced with tone and color. Primal power with seething shards of guitar and waves of delay and feedback, merging the sonic and spectral, typically creating hovering levels of consonence and dissonence like the low pulses of our circulatory systems and the high hums of our nervous systems, like the eternal voice of the universe, an energy-stream moving along where the deeper self can exist and leave the rational mind behind for extended durations. A floating, atmospheric character of a sound-entity.
