Four lads having a buzz playing music thats it!

About Me

It all started 14 years ago when i was a 15 year old lad who wanted to go out on the piss! There wasnt many bars that would let you in those days so i thought "fuck it i'll start a band and then i'll get in everywhere! Thus Dean Bailey singer songwriter was born.
My first attempts of songwriting bring back fond memories. I'd be sat at home trying to write a song but be dead scared of my family catching me it was like i was having a sneaky pull, they would come in the front room while i was writing and i'd quickly hide the half written song under the coach, they'd be like, what you doing? and i'd be like fuck off leave me alone.

After writing about 8 songs i searched for a guitarist and approached a mate who apparently started playing! His name was johny pollit! Attempts at songwriting with johny proved fruitless at first! We'd get together and i'd be like lets write a song and johnny would be like nah lets go on the piss, so we'd go on the piss, the only pub that would serve us was the world famous woodman in hazel grove and thats where i met phil and tim shaw, who would be in my first band blackout.

We all got together but needed a drummer a local lad by the name of Rick Files put us on to a guy who he knew at school called Martin Booth.

My first meetings with martin will never be forgotten.

I remember thinking fuck man, yeah weve got a drummer i pictured a six foot good looking bastard or somthing but when boothy turned up i thought what the fuck, he was about 18 stone and looked like an afgan clown, what was mad was i'd been in hospital for a week with ceptacima in my foot and the first thing the big bastard did was stand on my foot, i thought fuck this, this is a no go, but within five minutes of booth playing it was clear he was far talented than all of us at that time and was instantly in the band.

We practiced oasis and stone roses covers at first in the back room of my house on turncroft lane offerton stockport.

We were happy to just plod along when my mum changed alot of things. She came in with the brews and the penguins on a tray and said if i hear another cover under this roof you can all fuck off and play somewhere else, you'll never get nowhere playing covers, So we all sat there thinking fuck we dont wanna lose the room and we started playing our on tunes.

My first gig was the woodman. I nearly never made it on stage because a lot of people turned up and the nerves hit me. It was mad we'd been out stopping buses on the a6 and wallpaper pasting the backs of them with our posters, We put alot of energy into promo on that first gig and shit loads of people turned up, You couldnt get in the boozer and my arse fell out. Luckily Boothy told me to sort my fucking head out and get on stage, Which i did and the rest is hisrtory.

Blackout played together for 6 years playing everywhere including The manchester Boardwalk, Night and Day and the legendary band on the wall. Different people joined the line up Dan horner (now a local doctor) Jon fitz (now an international dj) and Al wrench (chill studios stockport)

I went solo in 2002 and wrote an album called "ive been high" with a local dentist/producer named Stuart Macmourrough the album went on to shift over two thousand copies in south manchester getting him praise/recommened in now the much missed city life magazine. You can check the works of this on www.garageband.com/deanbailey .Having shifted so many albums locally I found himself in front of a big crowd at band on the wall with none other than Kt Tunstall as support. I was a bit surreal "i got a call from the main promoter asking if i would let Kt on the bill i said i couldnt coz there was already two bands and i wanted to do an hour and a half, He basically begged me so i let her on, when she got there i watched her sound check and thought this girls mint, I told her i thought she was great but she could only have twenty minutes coz there were two other acts on, She wasnt happy and gave me a bit of shit, For the record i'd just like to say sorry Kt if i'd have known then what i know now you could of had an hour love.

I released another album "keep it coming on" it didnt do as well as the first but got me on the main stage on the now legendary morfest 2005 gig i shared the stage with stone roses legend Mani and badly drawn boy to name a few.

Time has gone by and ive wanted to rock things up. The legend Stu mcmurrugh moved to france so ive now teamed up with local heros Hiatus sessioning for me to create a harder sound. weve have recently done a video on youtube and done a few gigs round manchester and the northwest. G.S.O.H was played on xfm and a few other stations.

I watched Hiatus play when i was eighteen and have always thought they were a proper tight unit and good lads to.

If you get down to the gigs there always good atmosphere and a buzz.

I also have a radio show on pure 107.8fm every thursday night. If you cant get it on the radio you can listen on www.pureradio.org.uk Its been getting some good reviews guests include badly drawn boy, haven, lowline, exit calm and the nouvelles.
