About Me
Barry Otto stars as the concierge of an elegant apartment building where he closely observes and stage manages the lives of its residents as if they are all members of his extended family. He cares for them and covers for them - he is friend, confidante and father figure to them all. However, one night when some of the younger members become involved in a series of complicated liaisons, he believes they should be taught a lesson!La Meme Nuit is an extremely stylish, beautifully observed and often hilarious short film which screened at the Flickerfest Short Film Festival in Sydney in January 2007. The film also won the Audience Best Film Award at the 2006 Sydney Film School Awards. The brilliant cast also includes Matthew Newton, Michael Piccirilli, Laurent Petitat, Amber L'Estrange, Ashleigh McDonald and Sophie Scarf. The film was shot by acclaimed cinematographer, Denson Baker, with an evocative score by Michael Yezerski.Gracie developed La Meme Nuit, an 18-minute film shot on Super 16, as part of her SFS Advanced Diploma in Film thesis on coincidence - 'there is no such thing as coincidence, only the illusion of coincidence'. The three beautiful young couples in the film become entangled with each other through a series of random meetings, and only marginally escape being caught out by the split second opening and closing of elevator doors, near misses in corridors and stairwells, and the intervention of the resourceful Concierge.La Meme Nuit is a very clever and stylish follow up to Gracie Otto's 2005 award-winning and festival nominated film, Tango Trois.
