The Julio

Julio Marin was born December 17, 1979 in Union City, New Jersey. Initially it was singing that caught his attention, thanks to his mother who sang in her church choir. As a teen it was drums and percussion that took over his musical interest. He participated in marching band and jazz band all through out middle school and high school, where he quickly excelled in his musical studies.
In 1997, Julio auditioned for New World, South Florida’s Performing Arts School and was granted a full scholarship. It was during this time of intense schooling that Julio was able to learn and master many different styles of music. He was expected to participate in ensembles ranging from Latin Jazz to Rock. Julio held the highest position, as first chair drummer/percussionist, to the top Jazz, Big Band, and Orchestra of the school.
In 2000, Julio’s need for a creative outlet led him to form a Rock /Punk band called Glasseater. Glasseater gave him the opportunity to write, arrange, sing, and play drums. Glasseater quickly became one of South Florida’s hottest local bands. In 2002, Julio stepped in as the lead vocalist and the band was signed to Victory Records. After more than four years of countless tours around the Unites States, Canada, Japan and two music videos, the band split up and went their seperate ways.
2006 found Julio itching for change. Feeling that he had reached the pinnacle of his career, he decided to move to New York and explore a new beginning. He soon found himself collaborating with Erben Perez and Mario Guini of Marc Anthony, playing for their band, Talking Buddha. He hopes to explore new ground and expand his drumming capability in New York City.
2007(fall) now brings Julio to Chicago; another stop in his constantly evolving life,presented with a couple of opportunities he simply can't pass up. he plans on gigging around town,and land some serious session work.as well as take advantage of those opportunities to save some money and return to Miami in 08/09.
