About Me

FONG, designer and creator of the line C'est Pas Grave, originally hails from Hong Kong. At age 13, his mother discovered Fong's numerous exercise books, filled from cover to cover with his fabulous sketches instead of math equations. Horrified, they tried to send him to corporate school, but instead he packed his bags and moved to the most hip and cosmopolitan of cities - London, England. There, he thrived on the fast paced, innovative, edgy way of life and the clothes...He completed his further studies in Toronto before finally settling in Montreal, North America's answer to Paris.Since first setting foot on Canadian turf, Fong has established himself as a force to be reckoned with. His designs are couture-inspired creations coupled with wit and a huge sense of fun - much like the designer himself. Hell bent on challenging conventional menswear, Fong will not be satisfied until he brings Montreal into the twenty-first century, joining the ranks of London, Paris, Milan and New York. C'est Pas Grave is nine this year and Fong is fast becoming the designer to watch. He and his label have been featured in many magazines including: DNR, New York, STYLE, THE LOOK and FASHION DAILY NEWS, Paris. His newest collection, Fall/Winter 2002, will be featured in September's issue of NUVO and he was previously profiled in local publications: ELLE Quebec, VOIR, and CLIN D'Oeil.FASHION FILE: "Discerning label, true to the designerâ€Â¦boundaries cease to exist for C'est Pas Grave.HANS KOECHLING, Montreal's top fashion show producer quotes: menswear that fits the body and not afraid to show color.HEM: 'Daring to show pieces that were dashing, witty and luxurious, (he) has put on one of the most important shows of the (Montreal Fashion) week.DNR: 'Catch our attention.
