Ruby Amarachi Odinma, was born to Nigerian Immigrants, Iheanacho and Grace Odinma in Lansing Michigan on November 20th 1986. She is the 3rd born of 4 other siblings. She has two older brothers and one younger sister. The Odinma family moved to Grand Rapids Michigan , where her parents divorced, leaving her mother in a desperate and hardworking position to care for her four children as well as her foster children. As her sisters and brothers focused on sports such as basketball, football, and dance, Amarachi’s attention was pulled in the direction of entertainment. Through out Amarachi’s adolescent life, many misperceived her to be distracted and undetermined because of her lack of effort she gave in school. Amarachi’s friends in Grand Rapids influenced her to participate in several fights, shoplifting and skipping class. This forced her mother to move her family away from this chaotic environment into Okemos , Michigan where her mother thought she would have a better chance of success. Here Amarachi adopted the determination of her mother and possessed more will power than most would imagine. Amarachi was always known as the center of attention in high school by making her classmates, and even her teachers laugh daily. Amarachi used her talent to entertain crowds as a dancer, singer, and rapper. During her class lectures she often would write multiple songs inspired by fabolous, jay-z, and chamillionare. Although she had many rappers that influenced her, she generated her own style and refused to be compared to any other MC. After Amorachi graduated in 2004, she took college classes for a few semesters, but decided to withdrawal and turn all her attention to music. She took charge of her life by striving for independence. She moved out at the age of 19 and has been moving forward in her career ever since. Mix tape Mami is in the building, holla at me.
