About Me

Menacide is a veteran of the "Gun Rule" (Grand Rapids, MI) Hip Hop scene with several credible accomplishments attached to his name. He's released over a dozen albums, has sat in the same studio as Eminem (while working with Proof Of D12), and paid enough real dues to cover the work ethic of a dozen indie artists combined. In 2001, his "In My World" EP garnered so much attention from local media, that the Associated Press picked up the story and blasted it across the national news wire. Cutting his teeth by pounding out show after show locally, he also went on to be featured on the syndicated Michigan Radio Network (MRN), for an almost unheard of promo-cast.
2003's "Knuckle Up" LP introduced bored underground fans to a world of revised hardcore rap, while showcasing Menacide's ability to spin new life into angry anthems. In 2005, his "Drugz" LP stole the number one selling spot at several online media outlets, and went on to become a fan-favorite with such bangers as "Braggin' Rightz", "Drugz (Feat. Proof Of D12)" and the proud-to-be-below-radar anthem, "Underground King". "I felt proud to be able to work in the studio with Proof for the title track on that record. He lit a fire under my ass that's been burnin' ever since", he affirms. It was during this studio session in Detroit where he was invited to meet 8 Mile famed Eminem, whom he humbly acknowledges as the best thing to ever happen to the relevance of Michigan Hip Hop.
Also a proud contributor to the ever-growing phenominon known as "The Wicked Underground", Menacide has worked with some of Horrorcores greatest talents, including Detroit's King Gordy, Prozak & Madness (of Saginaw's Bedlam), Q Strange, and many more. In 2006, he was given an honorary invitation to perform at Prozak's anual "WickedStock", a famed gathering of the "Wicked Shit" genre that pulls in fans from all over the country. He admits without shame that his greatest and most loyal fans have spawned from within that genre base. "Horrorcore is a genre full of the most hardcore, dedicated fans I've ever seen. Period. We eat a lot of sh*** from critics that don't understand the style, but we're proud as sh*** to be reppin' a fan base that we ain't gotta make bubble gum radio songs to please".
Menacide's latest release, "Street Symphony" is a CD/DVD combo package featuring guest appearances from Cypress Hill, Flint Michigan's The Dayton Family, west coast pioneers Insane Poetry, and many more. Menacide is slated to tour Austrailia in early 2008 alongside Insane Poetry.
