About Me

NINE INCH NAILS lyrics

Give me a Pen and a Journal, let me write of these things. Give me a melody and a tear, let me sing to you of all these things. Give me an empty canvass, on which to paint you my soul. Give me your heart, and forever it shall be held.Meet the new Earl. Earl was the spider that lived in my room in Chicago. He pretty much stuck to the one wall, and did a great job of killing flies. The day our new roommate moved in, she killed Earl. This adopted pet is in memorium of Earl "The Great Fly Killer" of Chicago and a good friend.

"You can't scare her, she's sleeping with Prince Valium tonight." ~ Lydia

"Sometimes I catch and hold love and pain, tightly in my arms. It will fade away, but I will remember it... Always." ~ Yasunori Mitsuda

I'd like to meet:

Edward Gorey, The Brothers Grimm, Aesop, or Edgar Allen Poe. When I think about great storytellers, they immediately come to mind as my favorites. I like that their work [except Poe] was also adapted for children (Although, Grimm is hilariously dark). I view life as one giant narrative, filled with a million frame-stories. All of these gossamer vignettes float down through our memories, like backlit autumn leaves, and pile, uniquely, as the tales of our existences, our adventures. We are the recorders of history-- the weavers of an infinite tapestry. Writing is nothing more than a craft, but taken passionately, becomes something much more metaphysical. The words breath. The pulse of the story beats, steadily, faster. The page is alive. We are the resurrectors of the past. We are the necromancers of fable.

"Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before" ~ Poe

"'Now if you're ready, Oysters dear, We can begin to feed.''But not on us!' the Oysters cried, Turning a little blue. 'After such kindness, that would be A dismal thing to do!' 'The night is fine,' the Walrus said. 'Do you admire the view?'" ~ From Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There ~ Lewis Carroll, 1872.

"VENTIDIUS. Just, just his nature. Virtue's his path; but sometimes 'tis too narrow For his vast soul; and then he starts out wide, And bounds into a vice, that bears him far From his first course, and plunges him in ills: But, when his danger makes him find his faults, Quick to observe, and full of sharp remorse, He censures eagerly his own misdeeds, Judging himself with malice to himself, And not forgiving what as man he did, Because his other parts are more than man.-- He must not thus be lost." ~ Ventidius Speaks about Marc Antony ~ A.1 s.1 ~ from John Dydren's All For Love (1678)

"Ulysses" by Alfred, Lord Tennyson - 1842

It little profits that an idle king, By this still hearth, among these barren crags, Match'd with an aged wife, I mete and dole Unequal laws unto a savage race, That hoard, and sleep, and feed, and know not me.I cannot rest from travel: I will drink Life to the lees: all times I have enjoy'd Greatly, have suffer'd greatly, both with those That loved me, and alone; on shore, and when Thro' scudding drifts the rainy Hyades Vest the dim sea: I am become a name; For always roaming with a hungry heart Much have I seen and known; cities of men And manners, climates, councils, governments, Myself not least, but honour'd of them all; And drunk delight of battle with my peers; Far on the ringing plains of windy Troy. I am part of all that I have met; Yet all experience is an arch wherethro' Gleams that untravell'd world, whose margin fades For ever and for ever when I move. How dull it is to pause, to make an end, To rust unburnish'd, not to shine in use! As tho' to breath were life. Life piled on life Were all to little, and of one to me Little remains: but every hour is saved From that eternal silence, something more, A bringer of new things; and vile it were For some three suns to store and hoard myself, And this gray spirit yearning in desire To follow knowledge like a sinking star, Beyond the utmost bound of human thought. This is my son, mine own Telemachus, To whom I leave the sceptre and the isle- Well-loved of me, discerning to fulfil This labour, by slow prudence to make mild A rugged people, and thro' soft degrees Subdue them to the useful and the good. Most blameless is he, centred in the sphere Of common duties, decent not to fail In offices of tenderness, and pay Meet adoration to my household gods, When I am gone. He works his work, I mine. There lies the port; the vessel puffs her sail: There gloom the dark broad seas. My mariners, Souls that have toil'd, and wrought, and thought with me- That ever with a frolic welcome took The thunder and the sunshine, and opposed Free hearts, free foreheads- you and I are old; Old age had yet his honour and his toil; Death closes all: but something ere the end, Some work of noble note, may yet be done, Not unbecoming men that strove with Gods. The lights begin to twinkle from the rocks: The long day wanes: the slow moon climbs: the deep Moans round with many voices. Come, my friends, 'Tis not too late to seek a newer world. Push off, and sitting well in order smite The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths Of all the western stars, until I die. It may be that the gulfs will wash us down: It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles, And see the great Achilles, whom we knew.Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho' We are not now that strength which in the old days Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are; One equal-temper of heroic hearts, Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
