Stu Lantz was born July 13, 1946 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylviania. He was the centerpiece of the 1964 Pennsylvania state championship basketball team. He earned first string all-state honors in his senior year. Lantz graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1968. He was drafted by the San Diego Rockets in the 3rd round (1st pick) of the 1968 NBA Draft. He played for The San Diego Rockets, New Orleans Jazz, LA Lakers and Detroit Pistons in the NBA. Lantz played in the American Basketball Association and in the NBA from 1968 until 1976. Stu is the current television commentator for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He has been the Lakers' color commentator since 1987, winning numerous awards for his work along the way. The Southern California Sports Broadcasters Association has named Lantz best radio commentator in six of the last seven years.
