Hillbilly Devilspeak

Best Damn Stoner Punk in France!!!

About Me

Hillbilly Devilspeak is a band that you either love or you hate. There is no in between and, quite frankly, this band does not have time for those that can’t decide about how they feel.
Hillbilly Devilspeak is a band that has influences. You are smart and you can probably pick them out if you have any sort of clue about music in the past 25 to 35 years. If you don’t hear any distinct influences, that’s okay too. This band really doesn’t care what you or anybody else thinks.
Hillbilly Devilspeak consists of four individuals that play their instruments as if their lives depended on it. Three of them sing and one of them just flat out beats the shit out of her drums. If you can’t appreciate that, then you shouldn’t bother reading any further.
Hillbilly Devilspeak plays shows all around the Western part of the United States. Even though they call Phoenix, Arizona home, they are just as happy to play San Francisco as they are to play Tucson. They have, in fact, spent time on some of the most incredible stages that the left Coast has to offer.
Hillbilly Devilspeak has also been incredibly lucky to play with amazing bands. Everyone from the Jesus Lizard to Motorhead to Everclear to Iron Maiden has shared a show with this band. Hillbilly is not afraid to ruin the auditory capacity of anyone’s fans.
Hillbilly Devilspeak is a dinosaur. This band has lasted for over 10 years. How many things have you done in your life for that long outside of eating, breathing, shitting and sleeping?
Any questions?

Band Members: Hillbilly Devilspeak consists of four unique individuals.
************************************************************ **** At 37, Tom Reardon is the oldest member in more ways than one. He's been playing bass and singing (with an ample dose of screaming and shouting) for Hillbilly since the beginning, and has been relatively active in the Phoenix area music scene since 1989. Tom has also been in bands such as Religious Skid (whose sole claim to fame was opening for Fugazi at Time Out of Mind in 1989), and Son of Crackpipe. The latter was a pairing with Alex Newport (ex-fudge tunnel, nailbomb, and recording engineer/producer of bands like at the drive in, melvins, trunk federation, and godheadsilo). Alex also recorded the BGR 7" and "colorized" for Hillbilly. In addition to Hillbilly, Tom currently plays bass in two other bands: Pinky Tuscadero's White Knuckle Assfuck and the North Side Kings. When he's not practicing or playing with his bands, Tom works for a Phoenix area non-profit organization as a Prevention Program Manager. Tom has a wonderful wife, three sons, four daughters, two dogs, and a beautiful cat.
************************************************************ Steve is a long time member of Hillbilly Devilspeak. During his tenure, he has been the lone guitarist, as well as now sharing guitar duties with Ray. He also provides lead vocals on a few songs, and backing vocals on most of the others. Steve cuts hair in NW Phoenix by day and can be found living in Sin at a dive bar near you on most evenings. He also fronted the very popular band, PaPa, for several years and is an accomplished computer geek, as well as being a friend of small furry animals everywhere. He has 1 dog, 1 cat, and has cut or colored the hair of the rich, the famous, and the mentally ill.
************************************************************ **In 1997, Ray Love moved from Cincinnati, Ohio to Phoenix with the dream of playing guitar in a touring band who would sonically assult all who heard. Ray played bass in several Phoenix bands such as the Wormwood, Curse of the Pink Hearse, Giant Blowout Sale, and helped form the World Famous Tijuana Poker Sharks. Though mutal friends in these bands, Ray met pApA who asked him to play bass in his new musical invention and the two have been jammin ever since. pApA also played guitar in the best band in Phoenix, and they were called Hillbilly Devilspeak. Ray was impressed after seeing Hillbilly smoke every band they ever played with and divine bliss filled his body when he heard the beautiful, beautiful music. One day on the radio Mr. Love heard that pApA had left Hillbilly Devilspeak. Ray then dusted off the Les Paul, took the car seats out of the van and has been sonically assulting the west coast ever since. When he is not creating music, Mr. Love is also an audio engineer who has run sound and recorded for God, Drunks, Musicians, Corporate America, Politicians, Athletes, and the Illuminati. Ray is married with 3 step-children, 1 turtle and several fish.
************************************************************
Still a true Hillbilly newbie at two years in the band, Claire knew Ray from the Wormwood and thought it would be cool to play in a band with him again. Cats seem to see her as an easy mark and she currently has put her foot down at four. Claire has finally worked enough hours in the corporate world to know that "Office Space" is brilliant.

I've done this before...but not on here...let's see if the story changed.

In 1992 I met Terry Ciarlino. I answered his ad in the new times for musicians who were into dark music: bauhaus, butthole surfers, etc. I may not have the bands right, but whatever.  I wanted t...
