Hi, I am Victor John and my friends who comprise the tekfunk crew are a collective of DJ’s and producers ranging in styles and genres who want to bring the most upfront dance music to punters around the world. The following is my bio, in third person of course, because we wouldn't want to sound sane or anything.
First introduced to the nightlife in the goth-industrial clubs of Florida, it took Victor John no time at all to discover the deeper side of the underground. One visit to The Edge in FL. to see Rich Rosario play after-hours, and he was hooked. 2 years of collecting records went by, and he had bought his own decks and he was off to drop the ultimate tracks on the floor. Victor John was quickly discovered for his natural talent for programming, and created quite a buzz in the South East within his first year Djing. Victor John moved to Atlanta in ’94 seeking to share the tribal sounds he craved in a more urban setting. Since then, he has held residencies in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and San Diego that have given him the opportunity to play along side Deep Dish, Ani from DeeLite, Doc Martin, Keoki, Kazell, Roy Davis Jr., and Earthtone Soundsystem. He has also had the honor of playing at one-off events with Chris Fortier, Andy Hughes, Kimball Collins, Icey, Three, Angel Alanis, Terry Mullan, Huda Hudia, The Stickmen, Dave the Drummer, Carl Cox, Chris Liberator and many more too numerous to mention… Respect!!Following a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ, Victor John went on to help throw the now legendary KEEP ON TRUSTING events, which were focused on bringing people together to experience God’s love. The experience only lent him more commitment to the house music community, and a renewed commitment to making the music that moves us.
Staying true to his east coast roots and true house music, Victor John remains on the cutting edge of dance music. He, his wife Malia and the crew are constantly pressing toward the ultimate hypnotic sound. Now located in SD, Victor John & tekfunk are focusing more on music production, with upcoming releases and remixes on the way.
