ABSENTA [Baeticum]

Absenta is a Black Metal band from Cordoba (Spain) formed in winter 2001. Starting as a standard Symphonic Black Metal band, (even teamed up with a professional soprano, Pilar Bautista, in the beginning), the music slowly envolved a more extreme approach, taking elements from scandinavian Black Metal bands, Thrash and Brutal Death elements. After several line-up changes, the line up was established in 2004, recording their first opus, "The thing at the doorstep" (name taken from the Lovecraft..s universe), at Chavo Records. This demo was distributed in the spanish underground, sending about 250 copies to zines and record labels, obtained really goods reviews and impressions. During their existence, the band has played in all place where it has been possible, with bands like Avulsed, Kevlar Skin, Su Ta Gar, Anvil of Doom and many more. In the next days, the band will enter studio to record a new opus, a MCD with 5 songs of genuine and furious Black Metal from south, and then Absenta will begin to looking for a label to release it.
