I am here for Friends

About Me

I am a small town girl exploring the city of roses, and studying history in an attempt to understand the nature of the big questions of life. As the lyrics of one of my favorite bands relate, I'm"Looking for something I've never seen Alone and I'm in between The place that I'm from and The place that I'm in A city I've never been"I like Thai food and the beach at sunset, though not necessarily together. Southern California is my favorite destination. I want to travel, but as yet have never stepped off the North American continent. I collect cacti, quotes, and vegetarian and ethnic cookbooks. Some of my favorite quotes follow:"Those who believe they believe in God, but without passion in the heart, without anguish of mind, without uncertainty, without doubt, and even at times without despair, believe only in the idea of God, and not in God himself." -Unamuno"A perfection of means, and confusion of aims, seems to be our main problem." -Albert Einstein"We live under the illusion that if we can acquire complete control, we can understand God...but the only way we can brush against the hem of the Lord...is to have the courage, the faith, to abandon control. For the opposite of sin is faith, and never virtue, and we live in a world which believes that self-control can make us virtuous." -Madeleine L'Engle"There is an orientalism in the most restless pioneer, and the farthest west is but the farthest east" -Henry David Thoreau
