Review: Kelly Clarkson "Because Of You"
48th Annual Grammy Awards (2006)
Uploaded by Binly
Kelly Clarkson wrote "Because of You" when she was only 16. Eight years later, she's honored for the song and singing it at the Grammys. What a phenomenon! Kelly's voice would render you speechless, in awe and out of respect. Few songs could tug your heart strings but this one not only does it well but does it every time. It is a beautiful and powerful song in the way that it moves you; pierces your heart and crushes you with its angst. And, Kelly sings it with such sublime emotion and vocal passion. When Kelly sings, she sings to the heart and I love her for that. There are only a few female singers I constantly listen to and when I get to Kelly Clarkson, it's as if I get a complete therapy from it all and how liberating the feeling! Whether happy or sad songs, Kelly's voice makes me feel good just the same. I could only speak of so few but Kelly ranks tops with the great balladeers of all time, and she is a great, solid female rockstar in my book. That's musical genius. Admirable! This generation is blessed with Kelly Clarkson and her music. - Mattsie
Review: Kelly Clarkson sings Tony Bennett's Because of You
Tony Bennett celebrates 80th Birthday with his music, Nov 9th, 2006, Kodak Theater, CA
Hosted by Paul Newman, Jack Nicholson, and Bruce Willis
Kelly Clarkson belongs to the A-List of Hollywood entertainers. For such a meaningful event, there's nothing like being entertained by a great singer. Forgive the unstable parts of the video clip. Thanks to the kind person who took this video and for uploading it to youtube for the world to see.
Wow!! I'm in love and speechless. Who wouldn't be after hearing a song like this with a lovely voice like that? Kelly's voice has only matured more for the better in the past 5 years since winning the first american idol title. She can sing anything - old and new, standards and rock - and she would own it, every time, with magnificence and class this time around. Where others choose and remain mainstream, Kelly's vocal exploration in different genres is a testament of her commitment to her musical growth as she evolves into one of the best and greatest singers we would ever know in our lifetime. She is currently positioned at a category where both musicians and listeners, honed and amateurs alike, would agree that she is "the voice of this generation".
"Kelly's voice is strong, clear and controlled with a pleasing tone and a certain charm to it". (quote from texmatt-youtube). When I listen to her songs, I don't only hear her voice, I feel her love or her pain, and the prospect of that feeling staying with you she manages to ensure you're taken up so high, as when whirlwind picks up a ball of grass, without ever having to worry about landing at all long after the song is sung. Then, looking for words to describe what your true feeling is after hearing Kelly sing this song or any ballad that she would sing, you would just want to cry, and it damn feels good. Saying that is really an understatement of what Kelly is truly capable of for my respect of her talent has concurrently grown with her. I would classify Kelly as the singer's singer. She sings better 'live' and that's because of the almost tangible soulful emotion she puts into her songs - you could virtually taste it in your mouth - but where it really leads is to your heart and mind. And, she would interpret covers as if you've only heard it for the first time. Now, that's marvelous! - Mattsie
"Kelly could jump from one singing style to another and she would own any song she sings - be it pop, rock, country, blues, jazz, standard or broadway. Kelly is underrated. She comes to us at a time when the old greats have almost been gone and yet we still are kind of hooked-and-dreaming-for-their-comeback not realizing that Kelly is the REAL DEAL!" - Mattsie

Review: KATHARINE MCPHEE
The lovely and talented 24 year old California Native was born to sing. Katharine started singing at the age of 2 and later getting proper voice lessons from her vocal coach-singer mother, Peisha McPhee. Athletic and musically inclined, she was a competitive varsity swimmer and thespian in high school (Notre Dame-Los Angeles) and musical theater major in college (Boston Conservatory). Katharine McPhee is not only a versatile singer (sings pop, r&b, standards, opera, broadway, jazz, blues) but she is also a skilled dancer. And, before the bigger publicity, she was already professionally involved in stage acting ("Annie Get Your Gun" and "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir"). Katharine was also cast as a "Paramount Girl" in the 2006 musical film, Crazy, about the life of Hank Garland.
Katharine McPhee - Somewhere Over the Rainbow (Judy Garland)
Katharine's recent success as a star in American Idol season 5 (2006) has made her a recording artist, having signed by RCA Records. There's something more to Kristy Lee that I just love, besides her singing. She has the most appealing personality in the group. It's her smart humor, her infectious smile and laughter; her girlish charm and tomboyish vibe; her witty replies, warmth around people and her love of animals; her height and her striking beauty; her good natured, classy and mature disposition; her poise and fashion sense; her sincerity, resiliency and composure; her dancing, horseback riding and kickboxing --just a few but appealing reasons, indeed, why I love watching AI this year. She's awesome and winsome! I don't know her personally but I have this familial feeling towards her. Review: Christina Aguilera "It's A man's World"
49th Annual Grammy Awards (2007)
Uploaded by Allure87
Unmistakingly, the most powerful live performance by a female artist since Whitney Houston's "One Moment In Time" in the 1989 Grammys . No other white female singer, except perhaps Kelly Clarkson, and only few black female artists could have pulled a James Brown song. This is where big vocals become superior and paramount in big occasions like the Grammys. Christina performed that song in pure might and delivered it with a big bang. I was totally blown away. It is a masterpiece! What an incredible vocalist Christina is! She is the consummate performer --confident and not afraid of taking risks- a mark of a great artist. - Mattsie
At 26, the prodigiously talented New Yorker and American pop singer-songwriter is a 4-time Grammy Award Winner. Technically, she is more skilled than her contemporaries with a genuinely powerful voice, belting out dance numbers and ballads with a diva's panache. She won her first grammy as a new artist in 2000 with her self-titled debut album. Since then, she has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide. Also successful in Latin Pop, bilingual Christina Aguilera crosses genres with ease and universal acceptance in the areas of soul, jazz and blues. Having achieved and accomplished what she did so far, she is at the top of her game, and I believe she is one of the few younger artists to watch rise and soar, with her indefatigable musical prowess, for many years to come. - Mattsie

ONE OF MUSIC'S TRUE LEGENDS - WHITNEY HOUSTON
"The Greatest Voice of Her Generation"
Review of the Highlights --by Mattsie
Multi-Grammy Award Winning Superstar **WHITNEY HOUSTON** is one of the greatest recording artists of all time. Her incredible popularity and unprecedented musical success have impacted all known music charts for 2 decades like no one has, selling over 120 million albums and 50 million singles worldwide.
Whitney holds the record for having the most (7 #1 singles) consecutive number one singles (breaking the Beatles' record) on the Billboard Hot 100. She made a total of 11 number-one hits within 10-year period (1985-1995). Whitney's albums have spent fifty weeks at number one on the Billboard 200, more than any other female artist. Whitney was the first female to have 2 diamond albums (over 10 times platinum), for "Whitney Houston" and "The Bodyguard".
Having attained the highest acclaim in the music business, earning the respect of contemporaries and rivals alike, her impressive list of prestigious awards remains unmatchable. Whitney Houston is a 6-time Grammy winner (5 in POP and 1 in R&B) from 1985 to 2000. She has won 23 American Music Awards (the most for any female recording artist), 15 Billboard Music Awards, 5 World Music Awards, 2 Emmys, and many other various awards**. Whitney Houston's The Bodyguard won her 8 AMA's in 1994 which is tied only with Michael Jackson's 8 AMA's for Thriller in 1984. Whitney Houston is the most awarded female artist in U.S. history.
The successful career story of Whitney Houston is one great american success story. It's one thing to have the familial genes and inborn talent for singing, it's another to have the right producers and management team to launch and maintain a career such as Whitney Houston's.
Beyond making number one songs and records, Whitney spread herself to various groups of fans-- in sports and the movies, where she gained more popularity. Singing in the NFL-Superbowl and for the Olympics has immensely helped her career nationally and internationally. Moreover, starring and singing (and producing the music soundtracks) in movies like "The Bodyguard", "Waiting To Exhale", "The Preacher's Wife", and "Cinderella" has made her become a household name among all movie watchers all around the globe.
By leaps and bounds, Whitney Houston has made an indelible mark in the music world like no other female artist, and it would only be fitting to say that arguably, she is the greatest female recording artist, ever. It was a great run, indeed, for Whitney, her producer-Arista and her management team. Collectively, they have all done a wonderful job. The news of her coming back from a few years of personal setbacks excites millions of fans from all around the world including myself. - Mattsie
