Mark was born and raised in Jamaica, Queens, NY. He grew up in the church, but looking to people instead of the cross kept him from knowing God for himself. When he moved to Atlanta, he began to sense the presence of the Lord calling him. At a youth meeting he saw "Distant Thunder" and "Thief in the Night," two films that focused on life on earth after the rapture. With heavy conviction in his heart, Mark went down on his knees and asked Jesus Christ into his heart. The last words of his prayer of salvation were, "If you can use anything Lord, you can use me." Over a decade since his acceptance of Christ, he's been actively in ministries such as YBC Ministries, Challenge Ministries, Sound of the Rebirth as as a international speaker & artist while narrowing his purpose with Poetry In Motion Ministries.
Finally releasing his new album, "SOULutions" off his own new found label, Mark J. Music. This is definitely the most creative & introspective work by Mark yet!! He takes you into his personal struggle of almost losing his wife at the birth of his daughter with songs like, "God of Israel." Another highlight hit on the album is, "New Slave Trade" were he talks about materialism being the new form of slavery. Mark says, "This one is geared towards bringing solutions to the soul through the avenue of love." Musically, the selections take you on a spiritual journey with its uplifting dramatic recitations laced over Soul/Hip-Hop infused tracks. Mark J has once again married the hip-hop he loves with contemporary gospel, bringing to mind the realization of celebrating God-given life at all costs. A graduate of Luther Rice University in Biblical Studies, he brings ministry to life on and off stage. Mark resides in Atlanta, GA with his wife Kathy and new baby daughter Israel.My tongue is the pen of a ready writer. Psalms 45:1 No longer uncertain about his destiny, Mark J has mastered just that.
