About Me

We play music, real music with guitars and Marshalls and no vocal pitch correction, no synthetic anything. We make music the old fashioned way. Blood sweat and BOOZE, lots and lots of BOOZE....
BVE plays in East Central Iowa. We’re too busy to play anywhere else: )
Drums: David Black, he’s played in bands all over the midwest and joined BVE in 2005. Bass: Dan Brain, he’s actually had TRAINING in music, which I think is cheating, joined in 2005 too. Guitar: Willie Moseley, he’s been with BVE since 2002. Willie has a Marshall tattoo. Vocals/Guitar: Joe W Gorman. I started the band in 2000.
When this project got started, I called some buddies and reunited a college band. Kurt Fredericks and I have played in bands together since 1980! So we got a mutual friend on drums and discovered a local celebrity, a pretty blue-eyed blonde for vocals. That configuration lasted one show.
I changed the line up and the focus of the band. I took over singing again (I’ve had this dream to play in a band where I could just shut-up and play my guitar). Over the years, some great musicians have sat in our band, and sadly, Kurt and another bass player, Joel Pearson passed away. But we continue to have fun and play our hearts out. And some of their work lives on forever in our recordings.
We record at Rising Sun Studio (that’s in my house! : ) and we play in the Eastern Iowa region frequently.
Our live shows are usually 3 hour love affairs, that mixes our original tunes and some great old songs that I grew up with. Always fun, loud and sweaty we rock away, one note at a time.
Come out and see our show. And then help us load our gear would ya? You know we’re getting older! : )
Hey, go buy our music at Itunes!

Songs are like tattoos, seikouudoku, frogs and spring

Joni Mitchell said "Songs are like tattoos&" I know what she means. They are, once recorded, somewhat permanent. Consequently, songwriting is a lonely business because as a songwriter, it's up to you ...

Spring, warm days, birds, poetry and bike cleaning.

There are certain things, indicators that spring is really here. Iowa can be a cruel place to live. The winters can be very harsh, with life threatening cold and terrible blowing snow. In winter and s...
