"hahahaha" multi-instrumentalist & self produced artist, Vanessa Bley says to her approach with music. Ms. Bleys father is the renowned avant garde jazz pianist Paul Bley, allowing for an upbringing where art was held to be paramount as well as unpredictable. Growing up one would find Bley at any age, perched on a phonebook a top a piano bench playing sound check. Today, the east village residing Bley delivers a sound heavily influenced by her roots as well as several other genres.Since arriving in New York five years ago, she has played solo/accompanied gigs at the Knitting Factory, Birdland, CBGBs, The Bitter End, ACME underground and Sin-e (as well as Hotel Café in Los Angeles and the Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco). Needing the occasional space to take a deep breath and regroup her thoughts, she recorded her own material at the Allaire Studios in Woodstock, NY. Immediately returning to the frey, Bley has written and co-written songs ('Creepshow', Kerli, Island Def Jam to be featured in an upcoming EA game) as well as recorded vocals on major record labels , done commercial work, and had the time to host Bamboozle TV 2007.Bley continues to write prodigiously, while channeling influences and creating her own unique voice and sound. This fall Bley heads to the studio (various apartments including her own) to record her debut album due out 2008 on IAI Records & Video. Also, stay tuned for the debut of her music video for "The Girl Not The Moon."
