I started MCing from Long time ago when I was jus a yoot man on my brother's (Dj G-Wiz) sound system "Cynical". They were big in SE London back in the day. This is where I got my first taste as, what is known as, a mic man from about 14 years old.My brother later, having had several years experience Djing as a sound man specialising in ragga, hip-hop, soul and rare groove, began collecting garage music from about 1996 following some encouragement from myself. I realised that the music began to encorperate more bassline. This appealed to me as an early sound man. I also heard an intro tune from Karl tuff enuff brown with his name being repeated over a heavy four four beat. In sound man terms this was known as a DUB PLATE. After hearing that both myself and G-Wiz were hooked. We started doing 90min practice tapes just for fun but we were both surprised at how much we had improved with every tape we made. The first proper Garage night I did was in early 1997. It was a new night called Cookies and Cream @ the Base club Piccadilly. My school mate MC Kie was resident MC and I used to go and help him out whilst he went roun' the corner to Pure Silk @ SW1 Club. I also around about the same time did a few shows on Magic fm with Kie and anyone who knows anything about garage music will know that Magic was one of the biggest UK G stations around at the time. They along with a few others such as Freek fm and Deja vu were responsible for spreading the music across a whole generation.
Oh and by the way I later had a regular show on Freek fm with Dj Blue.Later I linked up with the Djs For Life (DFL)crew who were fronted by the Dreem Teem, I also hooked up with Zoo Entertainment who were responsible for numorous huge Garage nights. Such as EXPERIENCE, LOVE INJECTION, EXCITEMENT @ Gass, CREAM OF THE CROP, ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, and more. Consiquently I have performed at all the above mentioned.I was one of the resident Mc's at CREAM OF THE CROP @ the Leisure Lounge which happened every Saturday , and also the sole resident Mc at a night called DREEM TEEM RESIDENCY @ Hammersmith Palais, which happened every thursday night. Other events I've appeared on the bill for include: GARAGE NATION, A ONE NIGHT STAND, PURE SILK, SUN CITY, TICKLICIOUS, COME TASTE THE HONEY ,and trust me, many many more I jus dont' wanna bore you.(i'll upload the flyers at a later date into Skully's archive)One of the highlights of my career was being one of the first ever MC's to host a garage rave in America. Yes the U.S.A. That was boom. It was held in a big ass ice hockey arena in Minneapolis. It was ram and due to the access of the music over the internet they were suprisingly up to date with the tunes that dj Footloose and Dj Martin (liberty) Larner were throwing down.
I also hosted in Switzerland a couple of times with Dj Mikie B (dreem Teem), Robbie (woman trouble) Craige, Ray Hurley and Dj Footloose.Later on I hosted a couple of garage sets on BBC radio 1 as part of the Dreem Teem show, firstly for DJ Le rouge and later Chris Lockdown from Derby.I was offered to work in Aiya Napa for 3 months straight by Zoo entertainment, which sounded great at the time but I had to turn it down because of university commitments. Such is life. Do I regret it? Ask me personally an i'll tell you.Anyway there's nuff more to tell but I will leave it here for now. I will be updating this page further so keep in contact.Just to say you can catch me down a at night called Memories @ Urban Inc in the 02 Dome, every last friday of the month.
