I am here for Friends

About Me

I am a 39 year old mom of 2 girls and a boy and have been married to the same awesome guy for the last 18 years. I love everything about being a mom and a wife. I work in healthcare and have had several different and interesting jobs over the last 20 years as a medical assistant. I love working with the elderly and with kids. Most days I try to be positive and not take things too seriously, because life is way too serious. And then there are the times that I let the stress get the best of me, and I have a small 'freak-out'. :( I am know trying to take a step back approach on life....lol. Ask my boss, she'll tell ya. ;)Remember, well behaved women RARELY make history!!!

My Interests

I am the Queen of Crafts. I mainly scrapbook and rubber stamp and I also make hand beaded jewelry. I have sold a lot of my handmade jewelry to friends and family and I sold some at a local gift shoppe in town. I recently made all the jewelry for a friend's wedding. I have scrapped well over 1,000++ pages and I make many scrapbooks for gifts and for sale. I would LOVE to be published in a scrap magazine, but I am too 'chicken' to send something in. I am a girl scout volunteer and I am active in my kids' schools and in our church. I love everything about family life and I am #1 cheerleader for Bulldogs Basketball, Volleyball and Softball. Go Blue!!!
You Belong in 1984
Wild, over the top, and just a little bit cheesy. You're colorful at night - and successful during the day. What Year Do You Belong In?

I'd like to meet:

I have only met two 'famous' people in my life. One being Mr. Ken Kennedy of Professional Wrestling fame. He is from the same area that I am from and I got to know him through his parents, who were exceptional and amazing people. The only other famous person I have had the pleasure of talking to and meeting was Constantine Maroulis. I met Constantine and his former band, Pray for the Soul of Betty in January of 2006. He was very nice to me and it is an experience I will always remember. I also came very close to meeting Marty Casey. He was a few feet in front of me and I stood in line for a long, long time to get close to him (no thanks to Mark, who said, hey buy a cd and get him to sign it...what a j-hole..lol) I had to finally leave the ranks of fellow Hammerheads to rush across the Summerfest grounds to get to the Pink concert...but that is another story for another time folks.I would love to meet a lot of my online friends. There are few of us that live 'relatively close', like within a 1/2 a day driving trip, but there is never just enough time to do that.I really want to meet Clay Aiken. Hell, I just want to GO TO A FREAKIN' CONCERT....GGGGRRRRR!!! I want to meet Oprah, because she is Oprah. And in my life, just once, for a fleeting moment, a touch of his hand, a smile from his eyes, I want to be able to meet Barry Manilow. That's not asking too much is it?????

Music:

AMERICAN IDOL BABY!!! I love everything about Clay Aiken. Taylor Hicks is the only Idol I picked from audition to winning the title. Kelly Clarkson will always be THE American Idol. I also have had a life long obsession with Mr. Barry Manilow. I love Marty Casey and Lovehammers, Nickleback, and yes, even Constantine Maroulis. I recently got hooked on Rascal Flatts. I love them. I Melt is my number one favorite song. My favorite radio station of all time is WIXX. My dad hated that station and would rarely let us listen to it in the car when we were teenagers. I remember singing "I wear my sunglasses at night" with my sister in the front seat with me and my mom and other sister and Grandma in the back and my dad driving home from Illinois in fog thicker than mom's pea soup and he finally had enough and turned the radio off. I think we still sang it though....lol. My grandfather owned THE music store 'back in the day' and he was a semi-professional piano player, having played with the Lawrence Welk Band and with Liberace.

Movies:

Shall We Dance is my new favorite movie of all time. I love a good romantic comedy, and I hate horror. The movie Shopgirl really got to me. Disney's Beauty and the Beast will always hold a special place in my heart. Totally stupid movies usually make me mad because I feel like I have wasted my time. I HATED Dumb and Dumber, but for some reason, When Harry Met Lloyd cracks me up. I usually hate all that is Adam Sandler, but LOVE The Wedding Singer. When he sings to Julia on the plane, I start crying. I do think Napolean Dynamite is pure genius and I find Benchwarmers amusing, but I think that's because I get a kick out of my son watching it. My family and I love everything Harry Potter and it is our tradition that when the new movies come out, we take Grandma and hit the theater. I was a teeny bit disappointed in this last movie, but it was still fun, none the less.

Television:

American Idol!!! Number one show ever. This year was a semi-disappointment, as I was hoping for a Melinda/Lakisha showdown. Oh well. I love reruns of Friends and Seinfeld. LOVE watching HGTV and DIY and the Food Network. I LOVE everything Entertainment related, E!News, ET, Insider, etc. I love The Soup. My family and I are loving Clean House on the Style Network. I think Matt Isemann is a DOLL!!! I hope that there are some awesome new shows on this fall. TV pretty much sucks lately, but I keep watching it. I am also a huge news junkie. I am constantly checking out the CNN homepage and I LOVE Nancy Grace. I saw an ad on TV that TMZ is having a show and I am freaking out. Let the games begin.

Books:

I love the Beverly Lewis Series. She is an inspirational writer and her books are great. I have read all the Harry Potter books and we currently have 2 copies of the new book in our house. I do like chick lit ALA The Devil Wears Prada and the Bridget Jones books. Mysteries are another fave of mine and Jonathan and Faye Kellerman are among my favorite authors. I must be the only woman on the face of the Earth that watched The Notebook first and then tried to read the book. Can NOT get into the book. :( My favorite book of all time is The Time Traveler's Wife. READ IT!! (and there is a movie in the works, oh happy day!!) And with books, come magazines and I am addicted!!! People, Family Fun, Crafting and Scrap mags. I love them all.

Heroes:

My hero is my husband. In 20 years of laughter and heartache, smiles and tears, I have never known anyone else to judge me less, fight with me the most, make me laugh the hardest, caused rivers of tears, kissed them away when he could and loved me because I was me. That, my friends, is the true meaning of a man among men. And I thank God everyday that he is mine.
