About Me

My names Allan. Stay in Glasgow, Scotland. Enjoy all the usual stuff folk put down on these type of things. e.g clubbing, sports, socialising with friends. Big music and film fan. Up until recently I played bass in a band.

My Interests

Outdoor life. Cycling, camping/fishing/bevvy trips up North. Playing bass, acoustic and electric guitar. Reading. On-line gaming. Talking crap, good at that, had plenty of practice.

Music:

Wide range. Over 3000 albums in the collection. The Beatles, Led Zep, Pink Floyd, The Stones, The Who, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Simon & Garfunkel, The Smiths, Radiohead, Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, The Pixies, Stereolab, Ladytron, Badly Drawn Boy, Nick Drake, Kings of Leon, The Stooges (new album out, how weird is that?), Van Morrison, The Editors, U2, The Joy Division. Snow Patrol, The New Fads, AC/DC, Megadeth, Beta Band, The Stone Roses, Timo Maas, Dandy Warhols, The Doves, New Order, The Killers, The Strokes, Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Frank Zappa, The Supremes, Bong, The Ozric Tentacles, Hawkwind, Beth Orton, The Policy, Primal Scream, Kasabian, Iron Maiden, Kate Bush, The Velvet Underground, Jackie Wilson, Nirvana, Oasis (much as I hate to admit it), Death In Vegas, Jesus & Mary Chain, Underworld, Wishbone Ash, The Doors, The Stranglers, Thin Lizzy, Happy Mondays, Sisters of Mercy, T-Rex, David Bowie, Paul Weller, Dire Straits, Donna Summer, Blur, pretty much anything except cheesy chart music.

Movies:

Love all the classics by directors such as Kubrik, Coppela, Scorsesse, Spielberg, Romero, De Palma, The Cohen Brothers, The Farelly Brothers, Kevin Smith. Loving Clint Eastwood just now. Jackie Chans early stuff. No specific genres although I am particulary found of comedies especially anything with Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrell. Big Christian Bale fan. Anything with Johnny Depp in it. Loved Amelie, Pans Labyrinth, 28 Days Later, 300, Inside Man (new Spike Lee film starring Brad Pitt due out soon, The Presige, The Illusionist, Stand be me, Star Wars, The Shining, Raising Arizona, Man on Fire, Easy Rider, Million Dollar Baby, Dog Day Afternoon, Apocalypse Now, This is Spinal Tap,

Television:

Soaps are a no-no. So are pretty much all TV dramas, the Bill etc. Scrubs is great. Cant get enough of The Mighty Boosh. Still mourning the loss of Seinfeld (there'll allways be the box sets). Football. Not keen on reality TV shows or Saturday prime-time, Ant & Dec etc.

Books:

Bit of binge reader. Go a couple of months without reading anything then crash through several. Enjoy Sci-fi, Philip K Dick, George R Stewart, Orwell, Burroughs, Burgess. More comtemporary stuff like, Banks, Brookemyre, Irvine Welsh. Have a bit of a thing for anything with Zombies in it, Max Brookes, World War Z is amazing, being made into a film next year.

Heroes:

Dont really have any heroes as such. Admirer of certain musicians, actors, comedians but none that fall into the hero category. Although for a time i was obsessed by Steve Coogans Alan Partridge..aha!..

Wrote this in 1989......

With an inevitability born from decades of studied repetition the little devils tail representing the minute hand on a curiously, some might say garishly designed clock, moved toward 12. The trident s...
