These are just some of the confident words that define the multi-talented super producer and entrepreneur, Mr. Ahktane. If you ever seen him in action or heard him talk, you’ll witness firsthand; the passion, the fire, and the love that he has for music. Constantly recognized for his enthusiasm and work ethics, this promising young entrepreneur wasn’t always destined for greatness.
Born and raised in the unforgiving streets of Brooklyn, New York, Ahktane had no choice but to make something out of nothing. Deprived of a normal childhood, surrounded by violence, drugs, and poverty, Ahktane was determined to make it out of the hood. Overtime, he was able to overcome these setbacks, but still wasn’t able to fill the void of not having a father. Luckily, his experiences and friends in life led him to Music, who reminded him that he had to look within to turn things around.
And that was exactly what he did, getting his first start with music at Bowdoin College, pairing up with fellow Brooklynite, Da Lyricist, and Harlem’s Ace, S-Caliber. As the young emcee (and poet) solidified his skills on the mic and in the booth, Ahktane also dabbled a bit in hip-hop production before making it his primary weapon. It was actually the advice of the Da Lyricist who persuaded him to take on the new role as a producer. Under the moniker, Young Ahk, Ahktane produced several mixtapes and albums, which serves as a testament of his growing talent. Ahktane adds:
“What makes my story so special is that I was actually against the idea of becoming a producer. I was already heavily talented in other areas such as poetry and songwriting; producing was the last thing I had in mind. As it became more of a necessity, I had no choice but to sit in the drivers seat. Even then I had to teach myself most of what I know today. It was hard but I stuck with it.â€
Currently, Ahktane is building his brand and his new music production company Ahktane Entertainment, serving as the entity’s president, producer, and head engineer. His mission is to create better producer-artist relationships. With a bachelor’s degree now under his belt and something to fall back on, Ahktane has decided to chase after his big dream. Ahktane could pursue a career in the medical field, graduating from Bowdoin College with a major in Biochemistry, but music has his full attention. Music speaks, he listens…college was the beginning!!!
