About Me

"Hilary is silly. She brings out the silly in me. She really likes jokes that make other people grimace. She's beautiful and helps me to see the beauty in myself and the world are around me. When I first met her, she made me see that a dead leaf floating in a mud puddle is beautiful. But mostly, she's silly...and it's contagious (and she can spell it, too). Because of her I'm no longer scared of hippies, and I own prayer flags and a Buddha statue. She's given me a greater appreciation of hugs. She helps make the songs I write better. Some day she is going to write John Hartford's biography and interview Ani Difranco (whose CDs I now own because Hilary introduced me to her). She's hip to economic ornamental gourds. And I love her, too."
(Katie, best friend)
hilary is the most phenomenal woman in america... seriously... she signs her name symmetrically, collects languages and obscure musical instruments, laughs hysterically at what may seem to be nothing in particular (but it's always something, rest assured)... she is a master of calligraphy, a scholar, a photographer, a grammar junky, a word whore, an art-supply enthusiast, and the proud owner of a fiddle named Thesis (let's not forget Julius, the guitar)... she has devoted a large portion of her life to the study of ethnomusicology, which most people have never heard of... i've quoted her more times than i can possibly remember, she's forced me (lovingly) to watch funny films that i never would've seen otherwise, and my life has been forever altered by her early-morning co-op multi-grain pancakes... i love hilary... hilary hilary hilary...
oh, and she jumps out of airplanes every weekend... for fun..."

"i know the difference between an adjective and an adverb. i wield this weapon like a machete."
