About Me

...that people often say about Him: "I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept His claim to be God." That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic--on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg--or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronising nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to. -CS Lewis"Praying for particular things," said I, "always seems to me like advising God how to run the world. Wouldn't it be wiser to assume that he knows best?" "On the same principle," said he, "suppose you never ask a man next to you to pass the salt, because God knows best whether you ought to have the salt or not. And I suppose you never take an umbrella, because God knows best whether you ought to be wet or dry." "That's quite different," I protested. "I don't see why," said he. "The odd thing is that He should let us influence the course of events at all. But since He lets us do it in one way I don't see why He shouldn't let us do it in the other."This profile was edited with Edit Your MySpace

Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which, in prosperous circumstances, would have lain dormant. -HoraceWe understand that Jesus died for us, yet we forget to equate loving Him with doing what He says! In John 14 Jesus says, “If you love Me, you will keep my commandments.” The question is, how do we know what He’s commanded, if we’re not in His Word? How can we be “in” His Word? By reading it, hearing it, studying it, memorizing it, and meditating on it! Some have a problem with the notion that we “should” be in the Word. Their thinking is that no work on their part can add to the perfect work of Christ! However on the heels of Colossians 2, which talks about being saved by Christ’s work and not our own, we find in Colossians 3 and 4 that followers of Christ are then called to work! This theme is pervasive throughout Paul’s writings, as we see Ephesians 2:8-10 clearly teaching this principle as does Philippians 2:12-13. These passages remind us that if we are genuine Believers of Jesus Christ, we will walk with and work for the Master. These passages are also a great reminder that it’s really God who is doing these things within the life of His children, so that He gets all the glory for the works we do! 2 Peter 1:5, says “applying all diligence, in your faith supply…” in the NASB, or in the NIV, “make every effort to add to your faith…” Peter is very clear that we’ve got some work to do, not for our salvation but because of our free gift of salvation through the perfect work of Christ alone!
