Black Diamond, a.k.a. Robert Alexander Bombo was born in Voinjama City, Lofa County Republic of Liberia. At an early age, Robert attended the St. Joseph Catholic Mission School In voinjama as his parents moved to the United States. Robert was left in the care of his late Grand mother Kabeh Dedeh along with his younger brother Francis. When his country was devistated by civil war in 1989, Robert along with his Grand mother and younger brother took refuge in the neighboring country of Guinea. At the request of his parents, Robert flew to Monrovia in 1994 when the fighting ceased. In October of 1996, Robert and his brother followed their Grand mother to the United States to reunite with their parents. During his high school years in the United States, Robert began to develop the love for writing music. In the summer of 2001, Robert began to record his first album titled "One Love". In May of 2003, Robert encountered his most difficult moment when his Grand mother's health began to decline. On May 1, 2003, Robert was by his Grand mother's bed side as she took her last breath. After the passing of his Grand mother, Robert found comfort in singing. Inspired by the voices of Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, and Alpha Blondy, Robert released his first album titled "One Love" in November of 2003. Through the support of the Liberian community and every one that bought the album, Especially from Salisbury to Charlotte North Carolina among other places, Black Diamond became a house hole name as the sound of "Foxy Lady" continues to ring through the speakers at every Liberian Parties. On may 7th 2005, Robert Graduated from Catawba College with a B.A. Degree in Sociology. On July 8th, 2006, Robert release his new single titled "Congratulation" from his next album, a song dedicated to Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and the Liberian people. Robert has also done opening show for reggae greats like Gregory Isaac, Buju Banton, Capleton, Machael Palmer, Tufest among others together at the Carolina reggae tour concert held in Charlotte, NC. Over the few years in to the music business, robert a.k.a. Black Diamond has become an artist to rekon with. The kid is doing conscious music from African to reggae, hip hop and R&B. One bright side of Black Diamond is to see his fellow Liberian artist succeed in to this music business and have the opportunity to excel to higher heights. Black Diamond is also on the road performing at concerts, weddings, etc. Robert still resides in Salisbury and continue to work on his future albums. © 2006 BlackDiamond
