EDEN:
Rooting from the infamous Verbal Impact Posse, 2 Headed Dragon was formed in 2004 by Naqib and Dennis the Menace. The crew’s vision then was simple; to help elevate the level of Independent D-I-Y Hiphop in Malaysia, (and side slap a few non-constructive rappers back in place). Juggling between classes and music, the duo was on the verge of recording until an unlikely meeting at a Jazz Festival with fellow rapper Trix Champagne, sprouting from another duo with Proximas called The Rhetorics, the 3 along with Hunny (then, a member of the de funked Admonition) ciphered for thrills and the musical chemistry took place.
BEGINNING OF THE END: 3FLOW
As the group took time to read each other, ambitions sprouted and Trix was invited to extend the duo. 3 Headed Dragon was formed in late 2004. The trio went on to release their first recording online as a crew 3HD under alter ego The Unholy Trinity with monikers; The Ghost(Trix), The Oracle(Naqib) and The Disciple(Dennis). (Dennis’ moniker would later evolve into The Destiny). The track, produced by HQA of The Rebel Scum remains as a classic underground independent track. With trouble getting the song on local radios, the trio opted for a new direction putting flow into importance as much as lyrics and content. The term 3Flow was coined and the group diversified its flows and influence to a larger scale. Sharing a mutual love for jazz and Frank Sinatra, the group went on to produce Fly Me To The Moon, sampling Sinatra’s classic with the similar title. With a growing following, 3 Flow decided on an album release and saw Blast Off 2 as a way to accommodate the budget for the EP. Failing to see the SMS mechanics behind the show, 3 Flow dropped out of Blast Off 2 but succeeded in spreading the message that Hiphop is anything but votes. The lost would eventually contribute to 3 Flow’s untimely demise, with additional pressure from all 3 members’ personal priorities. The result, Dose 2 was formed by Naqib and Trix to continue the good fight. In the midst of the whole journey, 3 Flow managed to release their only radio single Spread The Flow, the unofficial anthem of the essence of Flow Fam.
THE SEEDS:
With 4 members in the circle, Trix, Naqib, Dennis and Hunny embarked on a quest to extend and return help to potential talents that they saw, shared the same enthusiasm and love to shift the regional Hiphop scene. With promises to help assist, the 4 went on to scout and recruited new seeds for the Fam. With a new line up of fresh flows and drowning intentions across borders, Welcome what we call the Age of Aquarius for Local Hiphop, The Nu Jerusalem; Flow Fam.
