First playing together in 2002 or '01 (I don't remember) Jesse and Ben were guitarists/vocalists for the band Legs for Days. This experimental project began in Champaign, IL with just two guitars, drums and vocals. Legs for Days played about 50 shows in Champaign Urbana and Chicago before calling it quits in 2004. In 04 and 05 Jesse continued to pursue other projects and play in a couple of bands, while Ben played with himself...mmmmhhhmmm... in North Carolina. The two reunited in the summer of '06 and began work on what was to become Weekends Away. The addition of a bassist and drummer (Ken and Caleb) facilitated lots of jamming, some great song writing, and about a year of fun. Only one show ever came out of this collaboration, and Ken and Caleb are currently playing in a band called the Negligents.
Now called "Full on Accelerator", Weekends Away has been stripped down to just Jesse and Ben and has become a guitar duo project. F.O.A is a step back to simple songwriting with predominantly acoustic guitar tapestries and sparse heartfelt vocals.
