About Me

Mal started learning the piano at the young age of 7 where his passion for classical music and desire to perform first kicked in. To date he has attended the London Oratory School where he achieved his Grade 8 in the piano and Grade 6 in the oboe performing in numerous concerts both within orchestras and as a soloist.Mal first had his taste for starlight when he successfully auditioned for the musical Oliver! at the London Palladium at the age of 12 and since then his enthusiasm for musicals and the theatre has grown. He took his first steps as a tap dancer, again, at the tender age 7 and loved every minute of it – this has continued all the way through to Uni where he was an active member of the musical theatre society. He has performed on stage in such musicals as Fame, Chicago (Fred Casely), Sweet Charity, Bugsy Malone (Fizzy) and most notably the lead role in Singin’ in the Rain where he was able to combine singing with tap dancing! As well as being on stage, Mal has been fortunate enough to be Musical Director for musicals such as ‘I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change!’ and was honoured to be asked to be the MD for an Amnesty International Concert, where he was also asked to perform as a soloist on the piano. His claim is that ‘his piano is his baby’ – such an expressive instrument surely it’s not possible to have two people play it in the same way? It is that uniqueness which he hopes sets him apart from other pianists.
