Music has always been Shu Mei’s passion. She obtained her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music at Boston, USA under the tutelage of Mr. Eric Rosenblith . From 1990 to 1993, she played in the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. She went to Trinity College of Music at London and studied with Sophie Langdon in 1994 and got her Post graduate Diploma and the Fellowship of the Trinity College of Music. Since her return from London, she has been the Director and Principal of Mandeville Music School. She is also the co-director of Artistes International. She performs actively in the chamber music concerts as well as jazz concerts and gigs both locally and internationally. She has played for many dignitaries including the President, Senior Minister and Prime Minister of Singapore, former and current Presidents and Ambassadors of Thailand, Indonesia, Spain, Philippines, Italy, Sweden, France and Hong Kong. She also often appears on the local and Malaysian television music entertainment shows as well as interviews related to the Arts.Joan - Violin 2
An epitome of a well-rounded musician… a violinist and guitarist, Joan is currently the Head of Strings Department of Mandeville Music School. She has obtained her Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Management from Curtin University of Technology, and her Licentiate from Trinity College of Music. She performs regularly in corporate functions and has also worked with major artists such as Jackie Cheung, Bread and Richard Clayderman, She has also performed and recorded with many local bands. Joan also plays the piano and does vocals.Dawn - Cello
Dawn’s music career includes performing in a major musicals like Jackie Cheung’s “Snow Wolf Lake†in 1997 and local productions “Chang and Eng†in 1999 and “Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat.†She is also a pianist who graduated with a Bachelor of arts from National University of Singapore. An ex-student of the renowned pianist, Mr. Ong Lip Tat, she was a prize winner on the National Music Competition from 1991 to 1995. She studied cello under Mrs. Mina Illano and played in Singapore Youth Orchestra and the Asian Youth Orchestra. She obtained her Licentiate from Trinity College of Music in piano at the age of 13. Currently, she teaches piano and cello at Mandeville Music School. She is also a resident pianist of the Singapore Dance Theatre and highly active in the local dance scene.
