About Me
The only thing that keeps the members of the melodic hardcore punk band Ghost Story sane through the constant drama, popularity contests, cliches' and ego driven dickheads that inhabit the city they more or less call home is that twenty minute period of time they're given at every show they play. During those twenty minutes, nothing matters, everything just fades away. Any affliction or conflict is lost in the hybrid of catchy, fast-paced punk and heavy, modern day hardcore accompanied by an intense live charisma that has become a diamond-in-the-rough in today's scene.
Originality and uniqueness (words that seem to be forbidden nowadays) are the two principles Ghost Story thrives upon. The "FUCK YOU" gang yells and the played out song subject matter and the uneccassarily heavy tunings have taken a backseat in favor of thoughtful, heartfelt lyrics and unyielding energy. Seeing GS perform live has been described by some as, "Like seeing a pop-punk band play hardcore songs." That description is further enforced by the band's habit for including songs in their set that pay homage to their pop-punk backgrounds, covering the likes of Sum 41, Blink 182 and The Misfits.
Ghost Story is the answer to the rapant posi-hardcore acts that currently dominate the airwaves, with songs having to do with everything from isolation to nostalgia to loss. The band has shared the stage with the likes of Kids Like Us, Know The Score, No Turning Back, HOODS, Thick As Blood, A Loss For Words, Nervous Breakdown, TAEA, Wake Up Call, Trample, Give Em' Hell, CDC, I Rise, Knucklepuck, Battle!, A Girl A Gun A Ghost and many more.
On July 20th, 2008, Ghost Story signed to the up and coming, Texas based Anthropogenic Records. They are currently in the process of writing new material for their first release on the label, a 4-5 song EP titled, "Death By Black Hole."
"In the veins of HAVE HEART, VERSE, and SHIPWRECK, this Floridian band delves into an area long lost to modern-day music... originality. Every second of their magnetic appeal further relenquishes gems of melodic composition, heartfelt lyric, and intense presence. Truly, this could be the new era of hardcore."
