OUR PROGRAMMING
The Radio Racket, the 'big-time audio broadcast' airs live from the Sonicset Building in downtown Philadelphia each and every Friday night from 10 PM onward. Hosted by local radio personalities George Brusstar and Kyle DeWitt, and featuring Jeff Ryan aka 'Roscoe', theirs is one of the few shows that discuss the radio industry, not just in the Northeast, but across the country, as well as "other things". Plus interviews with important radio figures and your phone calls. A presentation of Audio 18. Visit the Radio Racket Forum!
Tune in and pig out! "Uncle Eddie's Ham Radio" (formerly known as just "Ham Radio") is the radio show where anything goes. Listen as Uncle Eddie, Billy the Wrestler and Battery Boy have fun and, ugh, ham it up. Live shows Saturdays 9-11 PM ET, and if you missed a segment, or just enjoying hearing the show too much, Saturday's show is replayed the following Thursday at 9 PM. The Cockroach - The Extra-Terrestrial Radio Home of Ham Radio.
Mr. Tony is back on the radio! He's back on the dial in Washington, D.C., but we're replaying his shows from last year every Friday morning! You can listen to his current show every day at 3WTRadio.com . The Cockroach - The Extra-Terrestrial Radio Home of Tony Kornheiser.
The Funny Farm! No, really - comedienne and former "Coach" star Pam Stone broadcasts directly from a shack in the backwoods of the Upstate near Tryon, NC. And through the magic of technology, she joins Anthony Michaels (whom you might have heard through some of the kickass liners we run here on The Cockroach), Chad Bowar and others for a four-hour funny trip on your radio - and your computer! The Cockroach - The Extra-Terrestrial Radio Home of Pam Stone.
From your useless source for information... It's an equally useless - but highly entertaining! - two-hour show, back for another season of all-new live fun! Join Captain Obvious, Big Bad Ryan, and of course, Tom Dixon, Fridays at 5 PM. Part of the Cockroach's "The Space" block every Friday afternoon! You can also hear the show 24/7 at ChesterCountyInternetRadio.com . Don't forget to check them out off the air at their website, The-Dixon.com .
It's Miller Time! In this election year, only one person can cut through all the crap - with comedy! It's Stephanie Miller, joined by "voice deity" Jim Ward and producer Chris Lavoie. Hear the best of the show, Saturday afternoons at 2 PM. Part of the Cockroach's Saturday Afternoon Playhouse!
Bang! Join John Tayman and Tom Lacks for an hour of "flat-out" sports comedy on "The Bang! Cartoon Radio Hour"! The popular podcast that lampoons the sports industry airs every Friday afternoon on The Cockroach. Check it out during "The Space" block on Fridays.
Get ADHD! You never know what these guys are going to say! Anything can happen - and does. Taking your phone calls and IM's; Skypers are welcome. Hosted by Video Vamp. A presentation of the No Holds Barred Radio Network. (May not be suitable for all audiences; listener discretion advised.)
Stay Up! A commentary-based show with takes on news, sports, and other stuff, spiked with some humor. It is the talk show with no limits. Hosted by Stephen McKay and Travis Winters. A presentation of Kansas City Online Radio.
Who's Cheatin' Who? The television show that exposed philanderers is now catching the unfaithful in the act - right on your radio! Listen as host Joey Greco (he actually got stabbed during the taping of an episode, did you know that? Now, that is balls) breaks the bad news to clients, and tries to reason with the (former) lovers who done 'em wrong. (Airtimes vary; check our weekly listings below.)
Let's Rock! An hour of hits from Louisiana's Ambassador to the Blues! "Mark Kerr's Rock Show" is dedicated to preserving, featuring and promoting the greatest rock & metal from the 70's, 80's and today. Hosted by award winning blues-rock guitarist and Blues Hall of Fame inductee Mark Kerr. Also, check out his album, "One Drink Away From The Blues" !

OUR MISSION
AM 930 The Cockroach was the brainchild of a radio geek residing in the Northeast. While it was one of his dreams to own and run his own station, reality sets in heavily these days, thus making the desire less affable. Unbound by the limitations of Internet radio (and maybe a repeater) it was decided a new station would come into existence, but it would offer something different. There's your garden variety "Jack" stations that play an extended music mix, but usually limited to a certain year range and aimed at a certain demographic. Since there's basically no advertising on this station, there's not much worrying about demos. Enter the concept of "playin' it all". It was determined that we'd offer a deeper variety of music - the only station that dares to throw in country next to rock and pop. And in effect try and challenge any real radio station when it comes to entertainment.

I'd like to meet:

Music:

HISTORY
The Cockroach's first broadcast was scheduled for Saturday, September 30 - thus the selected "frequency". It played a highly eclectic mix of music on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as relayed "The Radio Racket" from Audio 18.
The music changed to Christmas in late October. The Cockroach actually saw its listenership actually peak during this time.
Then it was decided in early December - with three weeks before Christmas Day - to go back to our roots and "play it all". The flip, which was hinted with clues between the Christmas songs, was met with disastrous results. It was then decided that the only way to win back the listeners would be to offer highly creative and entertaining programming.
Enter 2007, which proved to be a hectic year for the Cockroach. With the "RadioA2Z" program, it was still possible to "play it all" - only now in alphabetical order. And a different letter, every week. No other radio station in any medium had executed that idea before the Cockroach. Meanwhile, aside from the music programming, the Cockroach additionally strived to offer a unique and eclectic mix of talk programming found nowhere else on the Internet. While still relaying "The Radio Racket", it began running "Ham Radio" on Saturday nights. These shows, along with "Pam Stone" on Saturday mornings, would prove to be programs that played key roles in the station's future.
In February, the Cockroach, retaining its Shoutcast technology, started streaming exclusively through Loudcity.com, so at least the artists who made the "RadioA2Z" program possible would get their rightful royalties.
Apparently, that wasn't enough for the Copyright Royalty Board and Soundexchange to increase royalty rates for webcasters retroactively to 2006. As a result, the Cockroach decided to suspend the "RadioA2Z" program on March 31, at the same time teasing an "announcement" at midnight. The announcement, in the wee hours of April 1, 2007 - no joke - was a format change to all-talk.
And while Internet stations that relied on music hung in the balance, the Cockroach didn't want to be a garden variety talk station. They became "The Internet's Talk Superstation". They gradually built around "Radio Racket", "Ham Radio" and "Pam Stone" with other talk shows, podcasts and specialty programming.
At this point, the Cockroach has turned out to carve a pretty good niche, developing a cult following of some sorts. When sophisticated listeners with a wild side choose to hear stimulating talk radio, their choice is AM 930 The Cockroach.
