About Me

the people in my life, whether near or far, are all that really matters. i'd rather drive over bridges than through tunnels. please hug me. my dark chocolate addiction will probably be my eventual demise. i'll laugh at almost anything (blonde jokes need not apply). independent, fair trade shops win over big corporations any day in my book. i think old couples, babies, and dachsunds are cute. my pet peeves include fanny packs, people who wear brown shoes with a black belt (and vice versa), and being kissed on the corner of the mouth. i love sleep but will give it up for any number of good reasons. running along the beach is my favorite place to pray. i'll usually try to find my own way, but please feel free to lead me around on a dance floor. i love to sing, if no one's listening. i think shoulder muscles are sexy, especially if their owner can quote shakespeare. i love to see the stars but prefer to live in the city. i love working in the theatre but would give it up in a heartbeat if i could make money travelling. i'm eager and scared, witty and boring, sarcastic and kind. i believe humans are complex, intricate, and surprising... it keeps life interesting.the indigo girls said it best: "i believe in you and i believe in love"

My Interests

theatre, singing in my car, dancing in the rain (and everywhere else), shakespeare, musicals, hugging, backrubs, travelling, pajama pants, snow, flannel sheets, sparkly lipgloss, colorful shoes, cute purses, london (and pretty much all things british), van gogh, secrets, decaf coffee, fairness, coziness, good books, road trips, playing frisbee, smoothies, thunderstorms, storm watch candles, holding hands, lillies, finding new music, laughing so hard you cry, jack vettriano paintings, strawberries, chocolate, blueberry muffins, midnight phone calls, cheese melted on tortilla chips with guac, fun with my crazy friends, giggling, clean laundry smell, well-implemented designs, finding cute cards to send, quotes, random encounters, painting furniture, wishing on stars, napping...

I'd like to meet:

ballroom dancers. princes. masseurs. whoever can get me a job at the national theatre in london. people who enjoy road trips. frank stella. jonathan rhys-myers. fred astaire and ginger rogers. gene kelly. audrey hepburn. elvis presley and marilyn monroe. my favorite authors and musicians. my soulmates.

Music:

jump (little children), the beatles, great big sea, colbie caillat, mika, pat benatar, madonna, r.e.m., michael buble, jordan coughtry, sister hazel, ellie lawson, guster, relient k, chantal kreviazuk, audio adrenaline, u2, the sounds, stevie wonder, beth orton, prince, ella fitzgerald, jamie cullum, jason mraz... the list goes on... a lot of soundtracks, cover songs, and 80's stuff... and of course, musicals.

Movies:

'finding neverland' and 'armageddon' are my two all-time favorites. 'casablanca' and 'singin in the rain' are close seconds. other tops: 'the holiday', 'miss potter', 'history boys', 'newsies' and 'st elmos fire'. i'm chick flicks before scary movies every day of the week, but every now and then i need a good superhero film. i can watch fred & ginger movies endlessly, same with gene kelly. i haven't seen all of audrey hepburn's movies but so far 'paris when it sizzles' is my favorite. foreign films help me remember life is so much bigger than my own little bubble. and any movie with really good music - i.e. 'almost famous', 'high fidelity', etc. - is ok by me. and i've never had as much fun in a cinema as i did seeing the new 'hairspray'.

Television:

there was a summer show on the wb years ago called 'young americans' that was BRILLIANT. johnathan rhys-myers playing elvis on cbs and henry viii on showtime were the hottest moments in tv. 'friends' episodes can always make me laugh. i've seen pretty much all episodes of 'sex and the city'. other than that, tv's not really my thing... unless i'm somewhere with cable and it's time for 'the daily show'.

Books:

Recently finished both Eat Pray Love by Liz Gilbert and Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos - both changed my life a little bit. Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy are easily some of the most amazing books I've ever read, Gone With the Wind, Peter Pan, pretty much everything Nick Hornby writes (High Fidelity, Long Way Down), Paulo Coelho's stuff (11 Minutes, By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept), On the Road by Jack Kerouac, everything Shakespeare (with a particular affection for Midsummer), The Big Love by Sarah Dunn for its ability to make me feel like i'm reading about myself, and i love Vonnegut's style (Bluebeard's my favorite)

Heroes:

donna booher, jon stewart, and dane cook for finding the absolute hilarity in everyday life; jem & the holograms for all my lingering childhood dreams; the fab 5 for making over one straight man at a time:)
