HOLLYWOOD, CA – Indie artist James Bordwine (The Glow of our Headlights) has announced that work is under way on a new self-titled EP. No release date has yet been set. In addition, he has joined hands with the hottest indie A&R firm in Hollywood, CA, A&R Select. “Bordwine’s music is a gentle powerhouse of mood,†according to a spokesman for A&R Select. “Its seemingly simple approach reveals complex emotional content and intelligent songwriting.†According to Bordwine, the emotional punch of his music stems from the nostalgia and catharsis of his songwriting process. “I think that music makes me relive things,†he says. “I feel however I felt in the place that the song takes me to.†Originality is also vitally important though he’s quick to acknowledge that one can’t ignore the influences of those who have preceded him in the music industry. “While it’s nearly impossible to avoid the trappings of unoriginality, I do try to produce my own brand as best I can,†says Bordwine, laughingly adding that “you can always recognize my music by the buzzing of guitar strings and pitchy vocals.†Bordwine has played much in the way of local and underground gigs but asserts that those are the ones he enjoys most. “Those small concernts just feel personal. You can meet people.†The connection with the listener is an important part of being a musician, he says. “I guess goal-wise, mine is to do for others what my favorite songwriters have done for me, which is more than I can recount. If I'm honest, I think some part of me sometimes reaches out through songs, in a way that I normally would not.†he explains. “I don’t think there’s any better feeling than when I’ve heard people say that my music inspired them or was exactly what they needed to hear... And yet there are so many other artists out there who are so, so much greater than myself, I don't know...it's some kind of comfort still...just to get things out of your head and to try to connect with another person about our experiences in this life, or even just to think out loud.†The new EP will be the next step in his goal to share his music and vision with others. After recording, he plans to return to playing live.
