About Me

I am originally from Greenville, SC. I moved to Attleboro, MA in September of 2005. I felt it was time for some changes and wanted to have some new experiences. The move was verycool and I really enjoyed myself. However, I was doing what I truly love and that's teaching. I had a difficult time making that happen up there, so I decided to return to SC and get back to my teaching.I got a job in Beaufort, SC. It feels so good to be teaching again. I was very nervous at first because I hadn't taught for a year and I didn't know ANYONE down here. I have since made some great strides here. I have made some VERY good friends and am very happy here. In the words of Annie, "I know I'm gonna like it here."Other than that, not much else to tell. I am pretty happy with my life and ready to keep moving forward. If you feel that there is mor that you MUST know then ask. I am an open book!Hope you enjoy the pictures from the Sordid Lives party. This movie has become one of my all time favorites.

My Interests

Music is my life. I love to sing (alone and with others), write music, play a little piano. I am really into musical theater and love to be on stage. It's been a few years since I really did anything (unless you count a little stint in the cast of "Sound of Music" in Greenville last year). I hope to get back to doing shows real soon. I like to attend shows and concerts as well. Always up for supporting my fellow artists. I like to teach too. Working with kids has always been both a talent and a blessing for me. I love the idea of working with young people and helping them to grow as musicains (I am a music teacher) and as people. I am fianlly teaching again it has been SO GREAT to be back in the classroom.

Let's Find Out!

I'd like to meet:

The list of people I'd like to meet is endless. I would love to meet some of my ancestors and learn about their lives. I also think it would be kool to meet myself 20 years from now. See what I've become - or I guess would become. I'd also like to meet the little girl in the video below - she is adoreable, even with a potty mouth!

Music:

I have kept this blank for a while. I could write pages and pages on what I listen to and the kind of music I like. I will just say that I am a singer/songwriter and also a music teacher. I love to be involved with music in any and every way that I can. Below is a video that my friend Steven has written and designed a video for. I hope you enjoy and "Never Forget"

Movies:

This is a tough one. I have seen so many. I used to work in a video store so I had lots of access to differnt movies. I wouldnt say theres any particular genre that I like. The Harry Potter movies are ok - though the kinda steer away from the books a little. I would probably apprecaiate them more if I hadn't read the books first. All in all I love dramas and comedies. Or dramedies I guess. One of my all time favorites is Steel Magnolias. Yea, I know it's a "chic flic" but I think the acting in it is so wonderful. I love a movie that makes me laugh one minute and cry the next (granted I will probably not cry unless I am watching alone). The last movie I saw was...the Larry the Cable Guy one. Let's just say I was in one of those moods. I would proably not go see it at the theater again and only MAYBE on video (if someone gives it to me and I dont have to pay for it).Being a musical person I also like to watch musicals. My fav is probably Molin Rogue. That's a tough one to get "in to", but after you catch the familiar tunes the movie is easier to watch. I like watching stage musicals that have been made into movies too. Its not the same feel and kinda takes away the imagaination part, but then it also puts the characters in more real world places that help the whole story line to make more sense.AND - I recently watched and attended a party based on the movie Sordid Lives. It is HILARIOUS and the party just made the whole movie more enjoyable. I will post pics of it soon - YOU WILL LAUGH!

Television:

AMERICAN IDOL(Fox) I am a total Idol freak. Chris should have won - that's all I got to say about that!TOP CHEF(Bravo) I am finding this quite interesting. Granted "reality TV" is getting to be a bit of a bore, this is one show I like to watch.SURREAL LIFE(VH1) Too funny! The drama makes the show so good. It's nice to see "famous" people being well...whatever. Yea, some of it I think is just played out or planned ahead of time. But its still funny.FAIRLY ODD PARENTS(Nicelodeon) Yea, I still watch cartoons. I am not sure why I like this show so much. I wake up to it most every morning.DISNEY CHANNEL MOVIES(Disney) I like a lot of the movies they make specifically for this channel. I guess it's the kid in me. HIGH SCHOOL HIGH was really good. It was nice to see a musical.FOOD NETWORK I like to watch several shows on here. I have even attempted to make, sucessfully, several dishes I have seen on there. Love me some Paula Deen and Rachel Ray. I now live near Savannah, so I hope to check out Paula's restarant soon.

Books:

Ok, so I HATED reading in highschool and college. I wasn't big on being required to read. However, I did fall in love with Clyde Edgerton back in highschool. I read his book "Raney" for summer reading and found his writing to be totally hilarious. I have read most of his stuff. I recently finished "Lunch at the Picadilly". It was hilarious and reminded me a lot of my grandmother. I also like the Harry Potter series. Rowling is a genius and I think she is really developing Harry in ways that I didn't expect. I also like CS Lewis and Tolken. Tolken was a little hard to read, but after a couple of tries I can get through one of his books. I really get into kids books (like Harry Potter). I feel it gives me a connection to my students because I am reading what they read. They are writing books much differntly these days than they did when I was little. There seems to be more substance to children's literature. Granted, there are still those silly little books (which I also read).Another author that I have come to love is Gregory MaGuire. He wrote the book "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West". I came across the musical first then bought the book. It is REALLY good. I have also read the "sequal" to it "Son of a Witch". I was pissed off at the end though because it totally leaves you hanging.I finally finished Eragon and totally loved it. Took me a while to read it - for various reasons. I am really anxious about seeing the movie. I have just purchased Eldest, the next book in the series. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Heroes:

My mom is definitely a hero. She has seen me though MANY situations in my life and has stood by me through thick and thin - mostly thick! My highschool chorus teacher, Ms. Hunt (aka Mama Hunt) is a MAJOR hero. She is the reason I decided to become a music teacher. She has been a major inspiration in my life.My brother is a bit of a hero too. You know the song "Wind Beneath My Wings"? Well that's kind of how it is for us. I was always the one in the spot light growing up. He got into trouble. But I look at him now and he's grown and has really gotten his life in order. He's a policeman now (which is very funny, knowing his past). He is also the father of a beautiful 5 year old girl whom he cares about and takes care of as best as he can. There are probably many people I could list here, but I will keep it to these 3 for now.
