DOMINICANTES CHOIR was established in September 1996 from liturgical group Schola Dominicana which had already existed for four years. Its participants are students and graduates of various colleges and universities of Poznan, who share common passion for singing and are connected with the Academic Priesthood of Dominicans in Poznan. The conductress is Karolina Piotrowska-Sobczak. In 1997 Wyzsza Szkola Bankowa in Poznan (Poznan School of Banking) became the patron of the choir.
In June 1997 Dominicantes Choir was co-responsible for the musical setting of the youth meeting with the Pope John Paul II in Poznan. And on the 12th of April 2000 the biggest dream of the members of the choir came true: the possibility of singing for the Pope during the general audience in the Vatican and also taking part in the private audience.
Beside intensive concert activity Dominicantes is the initiator and organiser of many artistic events among other things annual charity concerts „The Meetings of the Academic Choirs of the City of Poznan†and The Dominican Week of Christian Culture Festival „For the Good Startâ€.
