Hailed for his “stunning ability to marry the musical demands of the evening with a riveting stage presenceâ€, Baritone Christopher Ryan has appeared as Antonio (Le Nozze di Figaro) with Manitoba Opera; Benoit/Alcindoro (Boheme), Billy/Lilly/Peachum (Weill in Weimar 1929) and Commissario/ Yamadori (Madama Butterfly) with Edmonton Opera; Papageno (The Magic Flute) and baritone soloist (Carmina Burana) with the RWB/NAC Orchestra; Capt. Albert Lennox (The Secret Garden), the Waiter (She Loves Me) and Henrik (A Little Night Music) with Dry Cold Productions; Dottore Malatesta (Don Pasquale) with Saskatoon Opera; the Butler (Joseph) and M. D’Arque (Beauty and the Beast) with Rainbow Stage; Capt. Corcoran (H.M.S. Pinafore) and Strephon (Iolanthe) with the Winnipeg G&S Society. Other engagements include appearances with the Winnipeg Philharmonic, Canzona, Prairie Performances, Groundswell, MTC and the Musical Offering. A graduate of the University of Manitoba and the UofT Faculty of Music, Christopher also attended The UofT Opera division. In 2005, he was a recipient of a Manitoba Arts Council award, which made it possible for him to study in New York City with Metropolitan Opera Resident Artist Mark Oswald.
