Summer nearing its end...lost my grasp on time :(

About Me

Oh jeez, well I'm just working alone fer the time being. I've been playing guitar for a few years now & I didn't wanna sign up a standard account so in comes this one! However I have a lot of jamming buddies & some band projects in the works so who knows... Anyways yeah, I have a lot of influences and listen to a lot of music - I mean it: metal/shred, classic rock, blues, classical music (that's right - Bach, Mozart etc...), flamenco, jazz/fusion, funk; hell - anything but most country & rap/hip-hop (I kinda like that stuff, but just...not nearly as much as I like everything else lol)...
I like to play both acoustic & electric guitars and recently started playing bass. Also, I've been writing some songs lately, so hopefully I'll get a chance to slap some on here in the near future.
Phrygian Tune: So yeah, kinda odd story behind this one: I wrote it simply for a project I had my first semester of colege around late April/early May; composed everything on the spot at like 11:00-midnite. This is also true about "Lydian Song" since they were both part of the same project! It turned out pretty good and I actually like it so it'll keep a nice little spot on the track listing here fer a li'l while.
Living In Fire: I recorded this one late one night during the summer of '06. I started out with a basic riff & built on it in a matter of a couple of hours or so; just having fun bringing the song to life. I especially like the breakdown on this one and then how I faded it back in for the ending section...don't know where that idea came from but I like it lol
Lydian Song: This is a ballad-style piece that I wrote directly after "Phrygian Tune." I prefer this one over the other two so far, it's much more melodic & has a bit more "feeling" than the others as well. This one however was written at around 1-2AM; dunno why but I just felt that it was the perfect time to put it together...
L'art de Guerre: A song I put together while on Spring Break '07. Check out my blog titled "L'art de Guerre" fer the full details of this one ;)

Yngwie J. Malmsteen’s Rising Force, Children of Bodom--Inearthed, Symphony X--Michael Romeo--Michael Pinnella, Adagio, Cacophony--Jason Becker--Marty Friedman, Rusty Cooley--Outworld, Arch Enemy--Spiritual Beggars, Lamb of God, Black Label Society--Zakk Wylde, Necrophagist, Eidolon, Nevermore, Racer X--Paul Gilbert--Mr. Big, Shawn Lane, Buckethead, Bumblefoot--Ron Thal, Pantera & Damageplan, Slipknot (more recent stuff), Metallica, Megadeth, Avenged Sevenfold, Death, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse (a lil bit), Annihilator, Overkill (kinda), Disturbed, Dream Theater--John Petrucci--Jordan Rudess, Evanescence, Exodus, Godsmack, Greg Howe, Tony MacAlpine, George Bellas, Guns 'N' Roses, HIM, In Flames, Ion Dissonance, Into Eternity, Iron Maiden--Bruce Dickinson, Jeff Healey Band, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Judas Priest, Kansas, Kataklysm, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath (Both Ozzy & especially the Dio eras), Ozzy Osbourne (especially Randy Rhoads era), Lynyrd Skynyrd, Mastadon, Mattias IA Eklundh--Freak Kitchen, Meshuggah, Mudvayne, Nile, Opeth, Queen, Rush, Shadows Fall, Sinergy, Six Feet Under, Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Suffocation, The Human Abstract, Theodore Ziras, Time Requiem (psychotic keyboard playing!!!), Torture Killer, Trivium, Unearth, Vader, Van Halen, Vinnie Moore, Vitalij Kuprij (pronounced "vitalee koopree"), Waking The Cadaver, Warmen, Wintersun, Apocalyptica, Beneath The Massacre, Beyond The Flesh, Origin, Blue Oyster Cult, Byzantine, Cradle of Filth (kinda), Dimmu Borgir (kinda), Deeds of Flesh, DIO, Dragon Force (1 song lol), Gonçalo Pereira, Iron Mask, Killswitch Engage, Liquid Tension Experiment, Machine Head (kinda), Michael Angelo Batio (coupla tunes), Quo Vadis, Ring of Fire, Roadrunner United (great album), Behemoth, The Steve Miller Band, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Corrosion of Conformity, Pink Floyd, Frank Marino--Mahogany Rush (very overlooked guitarist), The Doors, Boston, AC/DC (only a little these days...), Cream, Def Leppard, Aerosmith, Santana, ZZ Top, Journey, Jethro Tull, Styx (a few tunes here and there), Neil Young, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Guess Who, Yes, Kiss, The Eagles, Alice Cooper, Electric Light Orchestra, Elton John (yeah he's a fruit but he's also a powerful songwriter), Bad Company, Ten years After, Slayer (a few tunes)...
And the list goes on from there if you can believe that!
I also really like the following classical composers: J.S. Bach & C.P.E. Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Nicolo Paganini, Domenico Scarlatti, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Fredéric Chopin, Tomaso Albinoni, Pablo de Sarasate, Johannes Brahms, Pyotr Tchaikovsky---- I've never really been into Beethoven all that much; with the exception of a few pieces...
But of course, most of the time an entire band can't really influence me as a whole (although some actually have such as the first few on the top list there). Here are my main inspirations, idols & heroes:
Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Alexi Laiho, Jason Becker, Michael Romeo, Stephan Forté, Rusty Cooley, Michael Amott, Muhhammed Suicmez, Paul Gilbert, Dave Mustaine (Kirk Hammett's kinda a douche bag), James Hetfield, Joe Satriani, Marty Friedman, Shawn Lane, Tony MacAlpine, "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, Zakk Wylde, Ritchie Blackmore, Tony Iommi, Chuck Shuldiner, Jeff Waters, Jeff Loomis, Jordan Rudess, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and many many more that are all located within the bands that I mentioned above!
But of course, I can never forget the inspiration and a ½ to me that is William Randall Rhoads (Randy Rhoads); who was the main reason for which I started playing guitar in the first place. He created a revolution in the world of guitar playing and rock/metal music that should never be forgotten--rest his soul. Although he's gone, he will definitely be remembered as one of the greatest phenoms to grace the world of music fer many years to come. --Thank you Randy, I owe you more than anyone knows...
Sounds Like: I dunno...you be the judge!
