Maturity is the ability to endure uncertainty

About Me

Hello, welcome to my Space here.
This small place is like a private place, a place where you are alone making your stuff but everyone is watching. You all arelike an oneiric entity floating and hovering above my kinesphere. All I've done these years are like my offspring and I cherishthem much. My playhouse -in real life- is my company Emporium Digital Studioswhere I've done some serious game for the last 14 years now. Here are some babies I might consider worth sharing with you all.I produce and direct films and also produce music bands and help them make their dreams come true here at the studio. Maybesome stuff is not postable either because it's too long or too private. I studied Film Directing and Sound Engineering to showmy offspring here the good form to show themselves. You'll notice that I've performed in many of the works here as I alsostudied Drama at the Escuela de Teatro de la Universidad Catolica. Being behind and in front of the camera is a stressful butrewarding experience if done well...I love it. I'm posting some videos I have directed and enjoyed performing in also. Theywere fun to make...it's always fun when u enjoy doing what you like as a job. It doesn't feel like work when u enjoy yourjob...it feels like a play.My greetings and deep thanks to all the people I've worked with all these years, the people who enjoyed playing, who had funmaking something worthwhile, those ones who believed, those ones who helped make this art true and real. Film and art is acooperative form of expression and much of what you see here -either mine or not- was done with the talents of all the peopleinvolved with their hearts in each project.
My acknowledgement to them all and to those who keep their inner child alive n' present.

My Interests

Film and music (I have dedicated half of my life to them so far), art, painting, psychology, technology, gadgets, computers, paranormal and unknown phenomena, the outdoors, traveling, the mountains and deserts, ancient ruins, arqueology, drama, theatre, love, depression, animals and their well-being and nurture, seals (love those creatures), life and all regarding space...yes, outer space...if I wasn' t into art I would sure be an astronomer.
I' m a big fan and researcher of science and technology being Sagan and some other's work a fountain of knowledge and inspiration. Besides of film and music, those matters are my life.

I'd like to meet:

Filmmakers, actors and producers alike wishing to expand their range of work and mostly anyone serious in their stuff and who wants to do something about it.

One other thing for people who kept asking me in here: I HONESTLY support true FRIENDSHIP. If I invite or send a friend request it's basically because i'm interested in that person's work or life, not just as a number i'm filling in here. I also get several invitations and I think it's because people want to be friends with me for a good reason. So, if I invite someone and they don't respond and I see they log .. my invitation date without any answer, I assume they are not interested and I CANCEL my request. Period. Sorry, but friendship is no game to me.

My World Visitor Map!

A busy day doing this time the video and visual direction of the Fiesta de la Música concert show in Lima-Peru 2007.

A Busy Day...

A Busy Day...part II

Short film made some years ago and directed by my friend Jose Qusipe. We co-produced it together back in 2002 and were very pleased with the lighting and color results. There's a behind-the-scenes for this one also. We all had lots of fun doing this one.

Short-film "Oleo Azul"

JUAN CARLOS OGANES - "You and I"

A scene I love from the film "Limbo de los Sueños" (Limbo of Dreams) for the message and content it has (and also for my funny drunk friend here). I wish you all knew spanish...for those who do, enjoy!

And yet another small scene from my film "Limbo de los Sueños" (Limbo of Dreams). My babe Robyn suggested it be a clip for the American Cancer Association to promote smoke quitting...lol!

Some bits and clips of a cable TV show about technology some years ago.

"Ciudad Tecnológica"

Just a small impromptu / warm-up for the "You and I" videoclip playing "My Melancholy Blues"...

Juan Carlos Oganes - "Melancholy Blues" ensayo

New video for the Alain Band and Cheito Quiñones, singer-musician and ex-trumpest of Miami Sound Machine. I shot this one in Miami just now on January 2008.

"Cubano"

And now...the behind-the-scenes of the "Cubano" videoclip.

Wanted to put in here for a while some sample parts of a corporate video I did for the government some months ago about it's high-level corruption in their staff. I was hired by them to make this and I'm glad it did well and they loved it. Thought about sharing this with you. These parts are acted and dramatized and the cast and crew did a great job. It's in spanish so for those who understand...good for them.

PART 2

CADER - Parte II

I found this Alter Ego clips in the vault of my studio and they must have been sitting there for years without me noticing, then I did a quick editing of it. It's the behind-the-scenes of our videos, some TV interviews and live presentations. Bringed back nice memories of those good old times. We had fun since then as you might see. Some of our stuff was documented profesionally and some was informal as u will notice. The audio of some live concerts aren't good but it's what I could find so far. Will post more later as I find more tapes. Enjoy!

High Definition 24p test footage.
A short 6 second test footage shot in HD with my new HVX200 in 1280 x 720p. Special effects for lightning and sound were applied to the 4 wheeler after motion-tracking it.

QUADS IN ACTION Again, a test with my new HVX200 at work on the field, and what better excuse than to do what was promised...killer video of Ryan, Samual and David on their quads. Those kids are awesome! Shot in HD 720p at 24fps.

Fooling around on a free day at the park while testing more of the HVX200 capabilities now that I expanded it's film accesories. This was shot HD 1080 at 24fps, slightly color-graded in After Effects although the colors you see here were all close to natural. I have to say that the weather was perfect for this shot and the clouds were partially blocking the sun, painting bright yellow some parts of the lake and leaving a blueish tone for the rest that I accentuated a bit. Later, a storm, thunder, lightning and rain came and gave that beautiful orange-red tint to the sky that looked like it was on fire.Timing was perfect. Enjoy!

For tech stuff's sake, this was shot with my HVX200 in HD 1080 at 24fps, color graded and applied a golden bloom to the highlights and words. Music: Spa Cello by Roger St. Denis

New video of my band Alter Ego called "Utopía". We just shot it recently and it was good to see my friends all together again!

.

Music:

Queen and Freddie Mercury (I think it shows in my own music), Alter Ego (my band!), Yes and Jon Anderson, Tori Amos, Coldplay, Billy Joel, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, The Cars, Los Prisioneros, Soda Stereo, Sarah Brightman, Bjork, King Crimson, Rush and much of 80's rock (great decade), Big Mike, REM, William Luna, los Kjarkas, peruvian and andean folk music, middle east music, progressive rock, art rock, anthem rock, piano-vocals, R&B and any other type and genre that has cinematographic, majestic or symphonic presence and imagery. Music that transports you.

Movies:

Batman (Tim's version), One Flew over the Cockoo's nest, The Shining, Star Wars, Traffic, The Witches of Eastwick, Remains of the Day, Silence of the Lambs, Scent of a Woman, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Back to the Future, Kill Bill, Somewhere in Time, El Mariachi, Schindler's List, Matrix, Edward Scissorhands, The Big Fish, The Blair Witch Project, A Few Good Men, What Dreams May Come, Contact, X-Men, 2001 A Space Odisey, The Piano, Cold Mountain, Glory, The Pursuit of Happyness.

    .
.

Television:

Produced and post-produced 2 TV shows that got on air and stayed on for a while nationwide and also several others which only got to the pilot stage. Anyway, although TV is fun, the "here-and-now" and easily dated format doesn't appeal to me. But film and movies are timeless and stay in our minds forever.
Some TV shows I love are: X-Files, CSI (David Caruso with his one-liners are hilarious to me), Cosmos (I'm a huge Carl Sagan fan...and I mean HUGE!), NYPD Blues, 24, Law & Order -criminal intent, many of the Discovery Channel shows (Dirty Jobs, Bone Detectives, Man vs. Wild, MythBusters, Future Weapons and some others), History Channel, Animal Planet, Sex and the City and some nostalgia cartoon' s of my beloved childhood.

Books:

Cosmos -Carl Sagan
Scott Billups -Digital Moviemaking
An Actor’s Image -Sabatine?Hodge
I love to read but usually technical books in my field of art, film and music. I don’t swallow deep literature easily as far as poems are concerned. I’m an avid reader and spend much hours of my days reading or informing myself of techincal development or artistic movements in my field. I am more of a visual person seeing art in all things around me. Science is a great interest for me also like astronomy, psychology and the paranormal. Have read some novels as a child but not lately. Somehow I find my own life, travels and writing scripts for films so time consuming that leaves me with small time for myself. Traveling makes me live more. I teach my soul in other ways and by meeting new people and their ideas.

Heroes:

All men and women who play and participate instead of standing still and critizising others. Smart people who use that for the well-being of others.
People who get hit, fall but get up and keep trying.

And as a piano player and cat lover I have to say that I'm heartly surprised with this amazing cute cat I found recently on the internet that can fiddle some random mellow tunes on the piano. My cat does this when I play but not to this level. Lucky owners of this cat!
This has touched my heart.

This time I'll do the typical survey

A friend practically forced me to take this typical journal survey. I think it's fun but not my style. Anyway i sat down to answer them all and tried not to be sarcastic, but in the end it's the truth...
