About Me

Encouraged by their common love of playing music as much as possible, Jim and Nico formed The Modern Sins (then called God Is Blind) in late October 2006.
Everything started when Nico came back from an amazing trip in Winnipeg (Manitoba). He went home with tons of musical ideas that weren't common to him. He was touched there by some music styles that gave him goosebumps (but in the right way!). He came back and started writing songs on his guitar and writing lyrics about stuff that happens in life.He then called his friend Jim, because he needed someone nice enough to tell that the new songs sucked, and that even if he wanted to, he wouldn't sing nice enough to be heard by anyone. Surprisingly, Jim looked like he liked the songs and pretended that he wanted to join the band (read here «the duo») out of pity for his friend.
So they started working hard on this project, recording on Jim's laptop with borrowed and/or stolen equipment. They recorded a short four-songs demo for them and their friends. They then focused a little bit more on their punk-rock band, The Toasters Salers.
An important turn in the band's history happened when The Modern Sins played a show (Headlined by The Paperbacks and The Details, two winnipegians bands), which was never supposed to happen. They recruted two other musicians to do this then-«one-night event». But because they had so much fun and a non-anticipated nice response from the audience, Mathieu Duguay (guitars) and Marcel Desrosiers (drums) decided to stay and make The Modern Sins a permanent band for them.
On January 2008, we changed our band's name. Tired of being asked if we played metal or not, because our name sounded so metal, because God Is Blind sounded so metal and blablabla. This new name is not bad eh? Just enough neutral, but with enough personnality. And it has «The», which means we're SO professional haha.
On January 20th, Marcel quit the band. It's not because of the name tho! Life has taken him somewhere else and we all wish him good luck with everything concerning his next projects.
On February 9th, we finally made it official: WE HAVE A NEW DRUMMER! Dominic Saint-Pierre (ex-Crown Of War, ex-Dead By Murder) will beat the crap out of our drum kit for the next several years! Hooray!
So far, we've shared the stage with many great bands we admire. The Details (not once, not twice, but thrice!!), Great Aunt Ida, The Paperbacks, Malcolm Bauld (twice!!), Camaromance and many more. Who knows who's next? Awesome bands for sure!
Don't forget to go check our other bands! Jim and Nico are two thirds of The Toasters Salers and Mathieu has his solo project called The Sad The Mad and I, plays in a duo called W.A.S.T.E. and in a great metal band called Vortex (pretty busy man!). Dominic used to play two metal bands, one called Crown Of War, and another one called Dead By Murder. Photo Collage MySpace Editor MySpace Counters Comment Box Image Border

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: [email protected] Purevolume & Virb
Band Members: Jimmy Guay (bass and everything that has to do with recording process)

Nicolas Lepage (vocals and guitar)

Mathieu Duguay (guitar and also everything that has to do with recording process)

Dominic «Douminator» St-Pierre (Drums)
Influences: Tons of bands and singers have influenced us; for their talent, for their sincerity, for not giving a damn about fucking trends, for their way of dealing with being into trends without wanting it. Here's a short list:

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, The Weakerthans (I don't care if they're on Epitaph!), Great Aunt Ida (thanks for the beautiful songs and Ida, your voice takes me so close to heaven, I can touch it), Bad Religion (Greg Graffin for president!), Morrissey, The Smiths, Johnny Marr's way to play guitar, The Paperbacks (thanks for letting me into your space jam because I wasn't a boy from your town hehe), The Mandarines, Louis Levesque-Cote (see you soon brother), The Details (for your awesome live shows and your kindness to play here in Rimouski), Propagandhi (they may act stupid, but they're way much wiser than you), Nirvana (What's old doesn't mean it's bad), Pinback (go check'em), Lye by Mistake, Dillinger Escape Plan (for taking metal to a whole new level..this genre needs more bands like you), Bad Cash Quartet (come play in Canada dammit!!!), Refused, Raised Fist. and every amazing swedish bands, The Frenetics (R.I.P.), Malcolm Bauld (go check him out...he's incredible...listen to that voice) and so much...soooo much more.

Thanks for having read all of this.
Sounds Like: Barry White on Helium for some parts.

Here's our latest song. It's called Obviously Abstract. Live on May 2nd 2008, opening for our friends The Details and the almighty Malcolm Bauld at Bar Le Rhino (Rimouski). Dug was working, so our friend Étienne Dubé played his parts. He rules.

Here's an old song. It's called I Don't Feel Wrong. It's live. It's way sped up. It's from Bar Au Lau on October 12th 2007, opening the great Details and Malcolm Bauld. Totally killing.

Here's our hit single (do we have one?). It's called Facts/Regrets/Excuses. Even if there are three words, it's only one song. On October 11th 2007, opening for the almighty Great Aunt Ida, Kim Barlow and Tim Vesely. Still totally killing, if I can't be so self-indulgent.

Record Label: Unsigned, but willing to be!!!
Type of Label: Indie
