About Me

Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor

If you are new to our profile, welcome. We will be continually changing our profile as we grow through phases in our endeavor to produce our first album. We would appreciate folks befriending us and anyone with experience offering any helpful advice. Leod Piper (Pronounced, loud piper.) is based in Jonson City, Tennessee and is made up of two people, so far. Rob Hoss: highland bagpipes, small pipes, whistles, guitar, keyboard, vocals, composer and beginner sound engineer. Whitney Hoss: vocals, piano, keyboard. Leod piper is in it's infancy. Our goal is to independently write and produce songs for our first , self titled, album. We are having to start, virtually, with nothing. Our first step is to purchase desktop PC based Studio recording equipment that falls within a family budget (We have children.). We have been looking at several options and will be making a final decision by March 2007. We are also purchasing a new Roland synthesizer as well as many other useful tools within March 2007. Rob has been writing since 1987 and has been striving to fulfill a lifelong dream of having an album of quality music to share with the world. Whitney has been kind enough to indulge him and is willing to add her talent in fulfilling his dream. "Leod in Gaelic translates to ugly. I thought it was an appropriate name for us because of my piping style and the unique style and edge we hope to bring out in our music." says Rob. Bagpipes, however, are not the focus of our music. They are merely one sound in an ocean of sounds. The idea is to lose our inhibitions and to do something no-one has ever done before . We are not trying to re-invent the wheel or anything but we are definitely not main stream. We are listed on Myspace as Celtic experimental rock because that was the only reasonable choices we had and for lack of better words. We want to have a bit of the Celtic spirit in our music without being tied down by any specific genre.Rob has piped at many local events and has often been asked about making a "CD". We don't think this project is quite what they meant but we hope folks will enjoy it anyway. "I am definitely not a traditional piper at least not in today's sense. I have been playing for only ten years and have had no formal instruction at all. Sometimes I feel like a black sheep in the piping community. My technique is deplorable to most pipers. I don't mind though. Piping competitions and marching in a pipe band just isn't me. Please don't misunderstand. I have nothing against traditional piping. I have learned a great deal from those guys and I know I can learn a great deal more. I just prefer the road less traveled. I think of the original pipers and how it must have been for them. They had to discover the pipes with no instruction and none of the bells and whistles we have now. Most, probably, could never read music either." says Rob.We hope you will continue to stay in touch with us as we grow and stop by often to see updates. Just remember, we are not professionals and we are trying this at home. Health and Peace, Rob & Whitney Hoss
