About Me

I am considered one of the best classic riders ever. When FICP introduced world cycling rankings back in 1984, I was the first rider to be ranked world No.1. That was the very year I had 33 victories. Until my retirement in 1994, I've won 9 'Monument' Classics, and 193 professional races in total. Eddy Merckx is the only man to of done better. Now retired I still like to show the boys a thing or two on my training weekends away, back home in Ireland. I also do a bit of commentating for Eurosport, when they need a professional opinion and I can't forget all me charity spins I do for the Blazzing Saddles. I'm kept busy enough running the Sean Kelly Cycling Academy in Merchtem, Belgium. I have my hand picked young fella's from Ireland and Belgium living and training there for my team. A great team to watch out for.My best wins include: Milan-San Remo (1986, 1992), Paris-Roubaix (1984, 1986), Liège-Bastogne-Liège (1984, 1989), Giro di Lombardia (1983, 1985, 1991). I also won Paris-Nice 7 consecutive times (1982-1988).
