About Me

The Quiet Revolution formed in the early 2000's to play new songs written by Scott Maynard. The original line-up of Rob Carson (bass), James van Bolhuis (drums), and Scott Maynard (guitar, piano) quickly recorded seven songs, five of which were later released as The Quiet Revolution EP a few years later. The recording was made by Al Cameron and Kevin Anderson, in Kevin's apartment on Queen West in Toronto. The band, with the addition of John Whytock (accordian, trumpet), played several shows around Toronto over the next couple of years, including one at the Silver Dollar where booker Dan Burke is remembered to have said "You guys are quite good". Bouyed, the band went into the studio to record another batch of songs - this time things didn't go so well; at the conclusion of the session the hard drive crashed, and the entire record was lost. Within days, the new-look Rock Plaza Central went in to record "The World Was Hell To Us", and the Quiet Revolution was shelved for a while. A short tour out to the Yukon prompted the release of the Quiet Revolution EP, salvaged from remains of the original seven song session. Scott continued to write and record his songs in his home studio: "It'll Happen" and "You Ask" were written there, as was this version of "part one", created shortly before Rock Plaza went in to make "Are We Not Horses". "Four Star" was recorded by Jim Holland at his Seaweed studio out in Whitehorse, Yukon. Plans for a new record keep getting thwarted by RPC's touring schedule, but soon, very soon, the Quiet Revolution will turn anew.
