I Grew up on the Southside of Chicago, I experienced many hard times early in life. My mother was a single parent of ten children. For many years she cleaned houses to earn enough money to take care of my siblings and I. I even recall having to miss days of school to assist her. I longed for a closer relationship with her, but she spent much time away from the family. When I was sixteen years old she passed away suddenly from a heart related illness. The shock of my mothers death caused a separation in the family, though we were separated by distance, my siblings and I remained very close. In 1989 we were all shocked to learn that my youngest brother Solomon was sick with the HIV virus. One day I called the hospital to check on his status and learned that he had passed away. I hung the phone up and there was a knock at the door. I opened the door to see my sister with a somber expression. Thinking she was saddened to by the news of my brothers death I began to console her. It was at that time she informed me that she was diagnosed with a rare form of terminal cancer. I began to question my faith, and my purpose, and I went into a deep depression. I overcame my depression and realized my true purpose in life.Because I had experienced so many adversaries, I found myself comforting, consoling, and counseling people through situations. In doing so I realized that not only did some of these youth relate to my story, but also they were motivated in other areas of their lives.I now provide lifelong development opportunities that empower individuals to achieve their highest potential, by becoming critical thinkers, and enhancing their skills through participating in workshops, educational seminars, clinic and open forum discussions. flowers layout @ HOT FreeLayouts.com MyHotComments
