Football, it really is the beautiful game. Musik, can anybody really live without it, even if you are an authority on 80's soft metal! Films, I do think it is cool to go to the cinema on your own.
Music for me revolves mainly around the indie scene. Bands such as Primal Scream, Blur, Stone Roses will always remain lifetime favourites. Current favourites are The Cardigans, Mando Diao(another Swedish band) and John Legend. I also love music from around the mid sixties to the mid seventies, i.e mod bands such as The Who, Small Faces. Through to hippy stuff like Joni Mitchell, James Taylor (a particular favourite), Crosby Stills Nash and Young and their various solo careers, The Byrds, Donovan, Melanie.
I love road movies like Easy Rider and Two lane Blacktop. Most films that contain Al Pacino, Scent of a Woman is genius whereas Sea of Love on the other hhhmmm. Robert De Niro of course, Raging Bull, Deer Hunter. Casino, Heat. Love michael Caine films like Alfie, The Italien Job, Get Carter and The Ipcress File. Built up a good interest in foreign language films as well such as Cinema Paradiso and Il Postino. Also educating myself in some Swedish classics.
Mainly interested in english comedy, The Fast Show, Brasseye, The Day Today, The Office, Little Britain. Scrubs is a fine show though from across the pond.
I'm reading media and communications at the moment and am actually enjoying the books I'm reading for it. I have been particularly interested on what Noam Chomsky has to say on propaganda. Never in my lifetime did I think I would get nerdy!
Alan Mcghee, one time head of Creation Records, started the greatest record label ever on a government grant and produced fantastic bands like Primal Scream, Teenage Fanclub, Boo Radleys, My Bloody Valentine and Adorable to name but a few. All bands were afforded total artistic control, the way it should be.My other hero, Muhammed Ali. Quite simply one of the greatest characters to walk the earth, he still is the greatest. This despite not being a big fan of boxing!
