WE GOT CHOOONS!

About Me

The name is Language. Vic Volts (bass) used to make a living off the film industry but always wanted to be in a rock band. When asked to write music for a porn movie he hooked up with Hugo Santa Cruz (vocals/guitar) and Marc Hacker (drums) to come up with a collection of "songs to fuck to".

Money made from porn is being spent on music and whilst working under close monitoring of hip producer Rob Harder (Baby Shambles, Sunshine Underground, Whitey) Language is slowly but surely building a reputation in the London scene thanks to songs such as "Eating Disorders" (parts 1 & 2), "Germs" and the early classic "Theme for a Porno".

Who are these people?

That's Ru Man Chu from Mama Shamone interviewing us lot and then from left to right: Vic, Marc and Hugo.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Hugo Santa Cruz
Vox, Jag-Stang, Synth
Vic Volts
Bass, Big Muff, Vox
Marc Hacker
Drums, Roland TD-10, Vox

Influences: The Ramones and particularly Dee Dee Ramone going "1234" at the beginning of each song, MSTRKRFT (the remixes with the fucked up bass lines only please), My R.E.M compilation, Black Strobe (Mind you, i love those guys ever since we went guitar shopping in tokyo), Quentin Tarantino, Sonic Youth's Goo Album, U2's The Fly, The Rakes, Michel Houellebecq (not the racist stuff s'il vous plait!), the Dresden Dolls' 1st album, them Klaxons we like too, Presets (they're awight), Plasbo!, CSS' "do you like the bitch-bitch" song and the one that goes something like "i'll be ruuuuuude, i'll be ruuuuuude i'll be rude Wooo Wooo!", we're not really into drugs but very much into sex, anorexia, bulimia, compulsive behaviour and just a little bit of The Smashing Pumpkins, but not really and speaking of which, food is a great influence on us. Yes we like our veggie stuff although Marc likes his meat and we love him the same because he's such a great drummer and he makes us laugh at rehearsals.
Sounds Like: "...Language are set to last the journey with their Smashing Pumpkins-esque distortion and wailing. It's a tough life being a modern guy these days and their lyrics reflect the full gamut of stuff life chucks at you, one of their songs is about eating disorders. Not exactly romantic! There's a gritty realness to Language's outlook but put in a tuneful way..."

Songwriting (by Hugo)

So Vic has this bassline that i poke fun at saying it reminds me of Whigfield's "Saturday Night" and I'm sitting there singing "Dee Dee Na Na Na" but i take it home and go over something i had written...
