SUNSET STRIP BK.
BIOGRAPHY
Sunset Strip BK. consists of two members: Michael Lugo AKA Mike-Who? and Marcus Angelet AKA No-One. These gentlemen have known each other since the 5th grade and have always been in touch with one another. Throughout the years, these gentlemen were doing their own thing musically. Mike-Who? then known as PARADYCE in the late 80’s and 90’s had some recordings out on independent labels such as: B-Boy Records and Udarius II Records. One of these records includes a 1999 song catered to major league baseball player Sammy Sosa on Black Rain Records. While No-One then known as Force of One produced and Deejayed for a group he formed in the 90’s known as the Silent Majority that was signed with Searchlight Productions in 1993. In 1994 the contract was ended with Searchlight Production and 5 years later the group Silent Majority went there own way leaving No-One and Mike-Who? with nothing to do. Mike’s deal didn’t work out with Black Rain Records due to the death of the CEO J. Robinson. So in the year 2000 they mutually agreed to form the group SUNSET STRIP BK. The groups name is a reflection of where they both originated from Sunset Park, Brooklyn N.Y. They also refer to themselves as “SPICS†in a derogatory sense and as an acronym meaning: “Spanish People in Chargeâ€. Sunset Strips BK’s logic is if Hispanic males and females in the hip hop community are so quick to refer to themselves as niggaz while we are supposed to be friends in the struggle for freedom with our African- American brothers and sisters in America. We feel that we should be brave enough as Hispanics to put ourselves out there to take the brunt’s that our African American brothers and sisters have been taking for too long now in the Hip Hop community
