Graeme Coleman is a film and television composer, musician and record producer.
To date he has written the dramatic underscore and title themes to over 20 feature films and many TV programs and series including Outer Limits and Jeremiah for MGM, Cold Squad for Alliance Atlantis, and Beastmaster for Tribune Entertainment / Alliance Atlantis. He has been nominated for a dozen Genie, Gemini, or Leo Awards, winning four times, most recently for his score for the feature film Desolation Sound. He has also been nominated for a Juno Award as a record producer and these days balances his time between writing for film and television, record production, and live performance.
In the 1980s, Coleman devoted much of his creative energy to the jazz/rock instrumental group Skywalk, writing most of the band's material, playing keys live, and producing three albums for MCA Jazz (U.S.) The band reached Top Ten status in Billboard with the albums Silent Witness and The Bohemians, and Coleman did a number of U.S. tours with the band before moving almost exclusively into film composition in the 90s.
The worlds of film and song often converge, however, as Coleman's recent production of singer/songwriter Laura Doyle's album Dark Horse (see myspace.com/lauradoyle) bears testament. On this late 2006 release, Doyle's cinematic songs find ideal expression through the craft Coleman has developed as a film composer; one song on the album, "In Everything" actually starting life as one of Coleman's movie themes. In other parts of the pop music world, he has also done string arrangements for artists ranging from Jessica Simpson to Ballicomingo.
The intent of this myspace site is to feature examples of Coleman's work in various genres of film and television drama, as well his album production and keyboard playing. Periodically, the music of one specific project or another will be featured, so check back every few weeks to hear excerpts from a different film or album, or watch video clips from film and TV projects.
