Oxygenkiosk
Oxygenkiosk is an alternative rock band from Hanover, Germany.
Their music is spheric and melodic and has been compared to old RADIOHEAD stuff, INCUBUS , DREDG , BLOC PARTY , RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS and Sigur Ros .
In January 2005 the band started off with former drummer of "THE EFT" Markus Meineke jamming with his school buddy Martin Jung . Martin had left "SOAKED-IN-RED" (nowadays known as "HERMELIN" ) a few months earlier where he had been playing guitar for three years. However, at the beginning Markus and Martin just played at their parents' houses with Martin singing and writing most of the songs.
In March 2005 they decided to ask Mister Stephen Mc Elholm , former guitarist of "VIVID BLOOM" to join their band and in August found a rehearsal room in the outskirts of Hanover where they wrote their own songs. In need of a bass player they came across Jorgo Vogiatzis who was interested in learning how to play bass.
After the first songs had been written they played their first concert as "MULTIPLYBY" on the 6th of January 2006 together with the band "HERMELIN" , with whom they are friendly.
They played other concerts in the region from February to May and as it hadn't worked out with Jorgo as a bass player, Leo Flock of "KUTANI CRANE" joined the band in June'06.
In July (11.07.06) they played at a band-meeting of the local music school as "MUSICMIMES" at which they also played their first concert as "OXYGENKIOSK" in December (12.12.06) of the same year. This concert can be seen as a turning point in the development of Oxygenkiosk. Having undergone several style and bandname changes they presented their demo-cd "Vitruvian Me" with Leo playing bass and keys, Martin singing and playing guitar, Markus at the drums and Stephen playing guitar and singing.
Oxygenkiosk in their prevailing formation had been born.
Later that month they played another concert with "HERMELIN" at the local youth club.
In January 2007 Oxygenkiosk recorded their demo-cd "VITRUVIAN ME" and made band pictures at an art exhibition in the "KÃœNSTLERHAUS HANNOVER" .
At the Moment they are rehearsing and komposing new songs.
