I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

A funny guy... Not "Richard Pryor" (R.I.P.) funny, but I can get a chuckle or gaffaw. I read a lot. Would often rather watch a nature show than anything else on tv. I play nice, don't eat the crayons, and make friends easily. I love my birth-borough and I'll scream I'm from Brooklyn, NY til the end of my days (can you imagine an old geezer pumpin his cane to the question "Where Brooklyn at?" That'll be me...). I love it but, NY ain't for me anymore. If change is the only constant, then I'm in-line with what will forever be. I got tired of the scenery. Definitely don't like riding beneath the city like I'm a mole or worm. I lived in Barbados for almost a year... I'm back in the states now... Who the hell leaves a place like Barbados? The time there was eye-openning, but I want to pursue something that I put on hold a bit to help my cousin with his business. It's me time! =)
I have a love for art, whether it's something created by man or nature. I'm really feeling the paintings below.
Funniest group of commercials I have ever seen.

My Interests

Travel... My favorite place in the world is Barbados. I admit that there is bias there because my parents are from there, but take a trip and you may join me in my praise of the island. I'm looking forward to visiting other islands though and seeing the homes of my Caribbean brethern and sistren. And I HAVE to get to Egypt and Ethiopia. A lot of concepts, beliefs, and mathematics were born in those two regions. I want to see the fruits of that labor first hand.

I'd like to meet:

Everyone... Except, whiners, loafers (yeah... I hate myself on rare occasions) =), liars, snobs, boring people, mimes (not biased, it would just be hard to communicate over the net), closed-minded people, know-it-alls (unless you're a nice know-it-all),... Ummm... I'll add more later.

Music:

Almost everything... I probably like reggae more than hip hop - mostly roots and culture reggae (Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Sizzla, Capleton, Turbulence, Buju, etc.). Favorite musician: Jimi Hendrix. Favorite Rapper: The Notorious B.I.G. I prefer older R&B - the new stuff rarely moves me in the same way.

Movies:

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy!!! Don't ask how many times I have seen them. Matrix - they could have left it at the first installment. Blazing Saddles. When We Were Kings. Stepping Razor Red X. Ray.

Television:

Sports Center, Family Guy, The Simpsons (Homer is still da muhforkin man), 24, Nature shows

Books:

My Soul to Keep and The Living Blood, both by Tananarive Due. Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison. The Easy Rawlins series by Walter Mosley.

Heroes:

Malcom X, Marcus Garvey, Assata Shakur...

Me, The Imperfect Perfect

I have "Imperfect" written all over me. I have "Perfect" written all over me. You, the observer, chooses which they will see. You choose if it's written in bold letters for emphasis or if it's insigni...

I do care

Someone asked me today why I watch coverage of what's going on in the world and, in particular, the middle east. And, they also proceeded to ask if any of the people who are dying were family to me. N...

Keep it interesting...

I don't know... Check this out. I grew into a person that has a love for words that come together in a way that makes the person writing them seem to have some uniqueness about them. With time spent o...

I blame black women

No... Before you starting rolling your necks, pointing, and cussing... It's not what you think. Ever notice that you don't hear about many black monks? Not that I think anyone is keeping stats on this...
