Send Me to the Virgin Festival!

About Me

For more than TEN YEARS, I was the Minister of Propaganda/Singer for the Syracuse, NY Punk band: Born Again Savages. We were THE LOUDEST and Longest-Lasting, continually performing Punk band in Central New York history. Here's part of one Review:
"The Sound of The American Dream Being Utterly Blown to Bits"
Born Again Savages - A quartet with screaming guitar, brutal drums, heavy bass and a crazed lead vocalist, the band's creedo is "Louder is Better!" It is tempting to lump this group on the trashheap of shock-schlock, but the Savages' songs are simply better. Their twisted, often disturbing lyrics are served up with a side of Humor Noir that sets them apart from other nihilistic bands of the Punk genre. Tom "The Sarge" Carpenter's lyrics and delivery are filled with passion - bent and twisted passion, but real passion nonetheless. His distinctive vocal style, scathing social commentary, and imposing stage presence make him the perfect frontman for the Savage's sonic whirlpool."

Unfortunately... All good things come to an end. In this case a BAD one.

It always was, and always will be.
What is Tom Around The World?
It is the Rock & Roll Adventure Webzine where I interview Punk, Metal, and Rock & Roll Legends and the best bands from today in my HeroQuest to Meet & Interview my Top Ten Musical Heroes.
The totally D.I.Y. site was founded in 2001 and since then has become somewhat of an underground legend with more than 2 MILLION visitors per year reading my adventures since 2004.
MISSION STATEMENT
"Based on the belief that although we look different and have different customs, we all share the same love of Rock & Roll in all of it's various forms; Tom and his crew will span the globe attending various Rock & Roll festivals in different countries and post their photos, interviews, journals, observations, and tips on this website to show how it was done."

There are many costs to running the TATW website. Those of you that enjoy the website know that it all happens with help from you. It has been completely funded by donations from fans. The easiest way for you to help the site is to make a donation of a dollar. One dollar alone can't do much. (Let's face it; a buck won't even buy a soda any more.) But if you get enough people together with a dollar each, in theory, you could change the world. If you like what I'm doing, Help Keep It Going!
Please Donate a Dollar...

MY TOP 16 FRIENDS
Time magazine’s newest Person of the Year was “You, Yes You.”
The reason behind their decision: due to the information sharing capabilities of such sites as MySpace.com and YouTube.com, as well as the boom in blogging, new stars are being born daily.
Sure, many of these new stars burn brightly for a moment then fade away… But, for that Glorious and Legendary 15 Minutes, the Spotlight of the World shines on them. And for some, if they’ve got the goods and are Lucky, (and I mean REALLY LUCKY…) they’ll be having a good hair day, remember their sunglasses, and people will love them forever.

Each month I will post 16 of the COOLEST People, Bands, Writers, Artists, Businesses, & Organizations for you all to check out.
They are my Friends for a reason. It's your turn to find out why!
If you like them, Please Friend Them
& Tell them TomAroundTheWorld sent you!

Movies:

I am a major film fanatic. Whether an informative documentary or drama or a super-cheesy B-Movie, if I have nothing else to do, you will probably catch me watching a film.... In no particular order, here are 10 of my All-Time Favorite Movies: 1. Natural born Killers (I got to meet Oliver Stone) 2. The Rocky Horror Picture Show 3. The Shawshank Redemption 4. The Road Warrior/Mad Max Trilogy 5. Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? 6. La Strada (The Road) by Fellini 7. Pale Rider 8. Star Wars Saga 9. Dawn of the Dead (original) 10. Batman: Dead End (it is only 8 minutes long but it ROCKS! Best Batman film ever. Download it and see for yourself.)

Television:

Don't you know that TV rots your brain? My three favorite shows of all time: 1. The Simpsons 2. The X-Files 3. Futurama

Books:

Soooooooooooo many! Let's just say I read a lot and leave it at that. Mostly Rock history or Biographies of the people who have influenced my life. Some favorite authors: Jack Kerouac, Hunter S. Thompson (R.I.P.), Steven King, J.R.R. Tolkien, Tom Robbins, Douglas Adams... Many, many, many more...

Heroes:

My Grandmother: for ALWAYS being there when it counts
Johnny Cash for teaching me about Redemption
Johnny Rotten for teaching me to see through the lies & speak out
Mike Ness for showing me that you could be tough and still have feelings
P. T. Barnum for his sheer audacity
Hank Williams for teaching me how to deal with a broken heart
Hank III for keeping the spirit of American Country TRUE to its ROOTS, and giving me the first HeroQuest interview.

My Lovely Daughters:
Eliza & Kathy
for being themselves

And last but not least:
My Ultra-Sexy Girlfriend Dawn for her LOVE, support, understanding, and for sharing a bond that I have never felt with another person.
I LOVE YOU GIRL!

Many more people have inspired me, but there isn't enough space to list them all.
