About Me

Larry Joe Bird was a true legend in every sense. When you are a kid, sometimes you look up to athletes, and Bird was one of only two people (other being Dan Marino) that I looked up to and admired. I would record every game on tape (looking forward all day for that game that night), collect every magazine, and dream I could shoot like him. If you like Bird, you already know his story. Born in West Baden, Indiana (grew up in French Lick) on December 7th, 1956 to a poor family. Went to Indiana University in 1976 with only the clothes on his back, dropping out 2 weeks later. Enrolling then to Indiana St where he felt more comfortable, leading them to a perfect record in 1979 before losing to Magic Johnson and Michigan St in the championship game. He was drafted in 1978 as the 6th pick of the Boston Celtics where he played 13 seasons, winning three MVP awards and three World Championships before retiring in 1992 because of a bad back (after helping the Dream Team win a gold medal). He won Rookie of the Year in 1980. He was the All-Star game MVP in 1982. Nine time NBA All 1st Team. Twelve time All Star. One of the top 5 players of all time. Larry Legend!
